It insulates very nicely while outdoors without being too warm while indoors. It perfect for layering!

Good layering, good product. By wijason from Sheboygan, WI on 11/27/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Moisture Wicking Describe Yourself: Conditioning Exerciser Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I been using these Polarskins in an environment where I'm in and out of the cold. When out, I zip it all the way up; in, I zip it down for breathability. I bought two, am happy with the quality, and feel I got a good value.
By Outdoor enthusiasist from Piedmont NC on 12/30/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Moisture Wicking, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Cold Weather, Competition, Cycling Describe Yourself: Weekend Warrior Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As a reviewer has pointed out, the fit is rather loose, which is a good thing because it can be worn as an additional polyester base layer on top of a more snug one (such as the Wickers zipped ones [...]). I had a brief problem with the zipper (it doesn't open as easily as the Wickers with one hand), but with two hands, it doesn't bind to open. Very stylish and functional!
By avid backcountry hiker in northeast US from NY, NY on 12/21/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Moisture Wicking Best Uses: Cold Weather, Running, Snow Sports Describe Yourself: Gym Rat Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Overall good value for simple basic long sleeve base layer in mild, cool weather. For extreme cold, could be bit heavier to be truly midweight.
By BO from southwest VA on 11/10/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Moisture Wicking, Warm Best Uses: Cold Weather, Under Shell Describe Yourself: Regular exerciser Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I expected a snug fit from a product called Polar Skins, but this top has a quite relaxed fit compared to most long underwear. (The web site picture actually shows this pretty well.) Sleeve length and overall length are OK for medium size. I decided to give it a try, and was pleasantly surpised at how warm it was by itself under a long sleeve shell for moderate cycling in low 40F temps. The sleeves would be too baggy to wear this under a vest or short sleeve jersey.
