By outdoorslivinlife from Billings, MT on 07/13/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Cost, Easy To Load, Good Padding, Highly Adjustable, Large Capacity, Lightweight, Waterproof front zipper Cons: Delicate, No water bottle holders Best Uses: Climbskiing backcountry, Day Hikes, Light Loads, Travel Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great pack. Has internal camel back holder, easy to adjust straps, has reinforced loops for carabiners, tiedown for ice ax/ fishing rod, and loops for skis on sides of pack. However, wish it did have nalgene bottle holders & more internal pockets. Glad I got the long torso model, so it fits correctly (I'm 6ft tall).
By Groundskeeper from West Finley, PA on 07/06/2009 Pros: Easy To Load, Highly Adjustable Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have not had a chance to load it with various gear but I have fitted myself up in it and like the engineering of the pack. Fits like a glove, lots of ways to strap on and store gear. Great value.
Goof quality at a fair price By Carl from San Jose, CA on 06/15/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Good back pack at a fair price - have not used it enough to judge how durable it will be. I liked the fact that it is a good fit for a tall man.

Another great Mountainsmith! By Boozer from Madison, WI on 05/25/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Load, Good Padding, Highly Adjustable, Lightweight Best Uses: Day Hikes, Light Loads, Travel Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I had intended this to be an overnight pack, but it's really not one unless you don't have a tent. I suppose if I had a bivy this would actually work well in overnight situations due to tent pack sizes. Otherwise this is possibly the nicest dayhiker I've found. My intention with this pack is to use it as an all day hiker. Part of what holds it back is that you pack it from the front (length-wise zipper) which somewhat restricts how much you can squish things down.
Otherwise this is a solid pack. The adjustments feel good and I'm not exactly small around the waste (36"). 30lbs in the pack feels good as it lays against the back instead of feeling like it's falling away from the top.
I give the pack 5 stars as a dayhiker. For overnights, I really would like some external straps for a sleeping pad and such.

By backpacker1 from Park City, UT on 03/18/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Load, Good Padding, Highly Adjustable Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Comfortable, great padding at shoulder straps; however, black padding at the back of the pack turned my coolmax t-shirt black. Tried everything to get the color out with no success.
