Had to return, but overall a great boot By swampsister from Great green swamp on 09/02/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I field tested the boots before returning. They are some of the most comfortable boots (i have never been able to wear boots) I have ever had. Usually with hiking i get toe cramps and burning in the ball of my foot - none of that occurred with these at 5 -6 hours of varied terrain. I also need a fairly large toe box and these accomodated that. However, I guess my ankles are too skinny, no matter how I adjusted the straps these boots bruised my ankles - actually left red/purple marks both legs. They have adequate padding around the ankles so I can only assume it must be my legs or stride or something. So I must return an otherwise awesome boot. Price was great, color nice, and they retard moisture wonderfully.
By Viva la Vida Loca from Chicago, IL on 08/27/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Cons: Not Durable/ Wears Easily Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Light Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels full size too big, Feels too large Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: My last 2 pairs of Lowa's were great but eventually one started squeaking and the other's vibram fell apart after 7 years. I'm hiking Alaska with this pair. I sized down per the advice here and still had to exchange for a .5 size smaller. But they actually seem to have gotten bigger with use and I wish I had bought even smaller ones. They are waterproof, and comfy except for being big, but after just 1 month they're already fraying and losing their shape and the arch support is minimal. I doubt they'll last a year. But, no blisters even though no break-in period and very light!

By Deb from Oceanside, CA on 08/10/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Lightweight, Nice color, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These boots are so comfortable that I am tempted to wear them to work.
I have not been able to try them out in the rain or snow...California is dry at these days. I would have appreciated longer laces and flat laces. Those round nylon ones seem to untie themselves so easily. I will probably go out and get some laces. For those who have narrow feet, you may find these boots wide. My feet are a bit wide and I like wiggle room. With my liners and a pair of thick smart wools, and my smart feet inserts, these shoes are a dream. Happy trails ahead.
By Deb from Oceanside, CA on 08/10/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Sturdydurable Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Light Loads Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have used other liners that slip and move while I hike. These socks are wonderful. They are thick enough to feel supportive, but light enough to use as a liner. They stay in place! My only complaint is that I could not buy enough of them for my whole family. Wish they came in Extra large for my husband. You will love these socks.
By Karine from Quebec, Qc on 08/03/2009 Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: For Lowa, it's a much smaller size than usual. So I decided to order my normal size, expecting it to bee slightly larger size because I like to have more place into my hiking shoes, but it came very tight almost hurting. I'll return it and order half size bigger.
I buy Lowa boots again and again..great!
