Comments:
I bought these for a week long hike in the mountains of the Isle of Skye, Scotland. We hiked for 6 hours or so every day over varying terrain. We had a professional guide so this was not just a stroll along a walking path. I even stepped ankle high in to a bog one day with both feet. Pulled my feet out and went on my way. By the end of the hike the boots were dry as were my feet, and the mud was gone. I have bad ankles and flat arches and these boot were very supportive. I did not have to wear my arch support with them.

Feels too wide, needs waterproofing
By Mountain MommaVerified Reviewer from East Tennessee on 04/27/2009
Pros:
Ankle Support
Cons:
Difficult Laces, Not Comfortable, Not Durable/ Wears Easily, Not Water Resistant, Too Stiff/Not Flexible
Best Uses:
Day Hiking, Everyday
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer, Casual/Recreational
Sizing:
Feels half size too big, Feels too large
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I bought these shoes to do some hiking in the mountains. I sometimes carry my children and often go through little streams. These boots were labeled "waterproof," but the instructions in the box say to apply waterproof spray to them prior to the first use. I missed this instruction sheet until I had already worn the boots on a dusty trail. Now every seam of the shoe is coated in dust. As far as fit, the length is true to size, but the width feels too wide. I have a narrow heel (typical of many women) and feel like these boots were built on a wider men's shoe last.

Love these boots. They look great. I took a half size larger and am so happy to have wiggle room for toes. No break in time, easy on and off. Mostly I love how light weight they are. [...]

Comments:
Good boots. Not the most stylish, but functional and they look like they'll last. They're light-weight, which is nice. They seem to be water and mud proof. However, they are a bit big...a bit wide. I wear a 9.5/10 (closer to 10, almost always) and the 10s here are way big...about an inch longer than my other size 10 Ecco boots, and also wider. Will have to wear heavy hiking socks to compensate. Otherwise, I like them.
