Good jacket, small problem By Dan from Chicago, IL on 10/29/2009 Cons: Not Enough Pockets or Features Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The jacket is nice, a little thicker/warmer than I expected. I like that the sleeves zip off to a vest, but there is no pocket in the back to store them in! you can try to stuff them in the hand pockets on the sides, but that is not ideal. Seems like an obvious design flaw. Otherwise, the jacket is quite reflective and has a nice fit for movement.
By run4yerlife from philadelphia,pa on 10/24/2009 Pros: Design4lowlightvisibility, Windproof Best Uses: Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The design is nice but the fit is poor. These are perfect for low light visibility but the fit is very poor. If is sized l size large. Returned.
illuniNITE convertible jacket Rocks! By Frogman from Clackamas, Oregon on 03/01/2009 Pros: Great reflectivity, Lightweight Best Uses: Nightime Running Walking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: illuminte products are great I have several of them. this jacket has the best styling and features of any I currently have. this particular model doesn't have quite the amount of refectivity as some, but it is allot more than about anything except other illuminte fabric patterns. this jacket also has zip off sleeves for versitility and "gear head" wow factor.
Great jacket, perfect for winter running By Cortinacliff from Reno, NV on 01/01/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Warm, Windproof Best Uses: Cold Weather, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a great all around jacket that is also a great vest. Good low light visability. The perfect garment winter running.
Good visibility, poor ventilation By AGM from Buffalo, NY on 12/20/2008 Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This seemed like a great jacket as I pulled it out of the box and tried it on. The fit is good (very typical fit for me in a large: good fit around the chest, and as usual more room than I need in the abdomen), except the sleeves are shorter than I was hoping. They are too short for me to pull my hands into my sleeves which I do when I run. (My hands always get too warm in gloves until it gets to around 15 F & below.)
Also, this jacket does not breathe well at all; certainly not well enough for use as a running jacket/vest as it's name led me to assume. There is what looks like a waterproof breathable layer on the inner face of the jacket (I haven't tested it as the outer Teflon finish beads and repels the water before it ever gets to the inner laminate), but I can't see using the jacket in the rain (other than a light drizzle) as water would simply seep in at the shoulder zippers. This jacket does breathe well enough for light activities, but not for running.
On the plus side, the jacket is very well made, and the reflective areas are VERY reflective. It is windproof, as advertised. The pockets are well placed: two abdominal and two chest pockets (one inner on the left, and one outer on the right), all zippered. There is also an elastic drawcord at the waist.
On the whole, this is a very nice jacket for casual wear or commuting (on bike), especially at night. However, it is not very useful as a running jacket.
Great concept, poor construction By T from VA on 12/16/2008 Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Chest Size: Feels too small Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The size chart is not correct, you should order one size up. Illuminite has a great concept although there are flaws. The reflective material is not in the stitching, it's just thin silk screened lines. It is very reflective but because it is just coated on, wear off far too quickly. The overall construction is poor. The zippers get stuck on the surrounding fabric often and both sinches broke the first day.
