By SF Architect from San Francisco, CA on 08/17/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Warm, Way freakin' cool looking Cons: Color off from photo Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm an architect and notoriously aesthetically picky and I'm tellin' you this is cool looking. I'm also very long armed(37" sleeve in dress shirts) and the sleeves are long even on me. If you're not big around in the chest get the next size smaller unless you intend to possibly wear something bulky underneath. The black color is a sort of patchy grey, so look carefully at the photo. You have to zoom way in to really get an idea of what it looks like. I've had good experiences with Columbia products in general thus far and this is the coolest thing I've gotten. This is well made, we'll see how well it wears. Very happy with this item for what I spent.
By muchacho from colorado on 01/19/2009 Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Would be a sweeet jacket based on materials (between a shell and a full jacket), but had ugly speckled coloring (not just black, black plus white specks) and giant weird pockets on the front which tended to puff out and look weirder.
By Old forest hermit from this winter- hanalei, hawaii on 11/07/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought it for a raincoat in Hawaii and also on the PCT in the summer. I had heard that Columbia Sportswear had sized all their jackets one size larger to please the fatties. I should have paid attention! By rolling the sleeves up, this jacket is fine, and it will be useful in rainstorms to have my hands dry, but it kind of takes away from the aristocrat image.
