By Extreme Hiker from Sacramento, CA on 03/01/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These boots have been around forever. I bought a pair in 1993 and wore them through four seasons as a wilderness ranger in the Eastern Sierra Nevada, hiked Hawaii and kept hiking with them until I finally had to replace them in 2008. They are sturdy without being too bulky. They are slightly heavier than the newer light hikers, but if you are climbing on rocks or in wet areas they'll stand up to it better than the light hikers.
I had these resoled twice over the years...Absolutely wonderful all-around boots. I do recommend, however, getting your own arch support/inserts for them.

By UrbanMom from Richmond, VA (via NY) on 12/24/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wear a 10 and probably should have gotten a 9.5. I just wear thick socks. They are exactly what I wanted and you can't beat the price. They are [$] boots and that's if you find them cheap! They are a little heavy and they don't seem to keep your feet warm, but the socks will make up for that. I owned a pair of these many yrs ago and they lasted me FOREVER. The only reason I got rid of them is because I was keeping up with the Joneses and started wearing Timberlands. Not again. I bought a pair for my 8 yr old son and now I have them as well. Great boots..and they look good too!

Great deal for the Vasque name! Probably too hot for summer hiking, though! Taking them to the German Alps for some snowy hiking next week!
