By lbdasdog from Mesa, AZ on 05/03/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: From what I can tell, these boots are SOLID! I will be using these boots for the next four months on a stint with the Forest Service. I will be hiking 8 to 10 hours a day while taking stream samples in the Pacific North West. I am confident that these boots will do the trick. The only gripe that I would have is that they are far to warm to wear in Arizona during the summer (its only May and its upper nineties).
....buy two...for those hard to fit feet By Out and about hiker from Fruita, Colorado on 04/29/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Casual/Recreational, Environmentalist Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I got lucky...bought a full size larger based on other La Sportiva reviews. Tried on two other boots (REI, Asolo) and instantly knew that this was the best fit. Hiked hartily 12 miles first 2 outings (in Co National Monument for those who know Grand Junction, Co) and only felt some ankle pressure. I may double over my sox to prevent that feeling. Note that I'm a gal who bought a guy's boot (as I have in the past) as my long/narrow feet are women's size 11. So tape measure your feet, try on a few brands and enjoy the great prices on this website!

By Tater Salad from Jackson, MS on 04/28/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Water Resistant Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are great mid to heavy hiking boots. I used these boots on a Montana elk hunt and they performed flawlessly. The offered plenty of support for carrying a 50 lb pack around the mountains, and they held up in weather that ranged from sunny and 75 to a blizzard.
By T.C. LongWalker from Glenwood springs, Co. on 04/16/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Cons: Not for warm temp hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am a manager at a home improvement retailer. I walk an average of 14 miles in a day on concrete floors. (Proven with a pedometer) I am also and avid fly fisherman who doesn't fish twenty yards from my car. I like to hike away from the roads and the hustle and bustle of campers and picnic areas. My average hike to these secluded spots are 5 to 6 miles. These boots have already proven their worth to me in the first week of wearing them to work. The one fishing trip they have been on, it was raining and snowing. When i got home the only thing that was dry was my feet. Last but not least the sizing is definitely 1 size smaller. I listened to the comments from other customers and ordered a full size larger than normal and the 11 1/2 fits perfect to my size 10 1/2 foot. These boots are worth the money!!
Good Boot for the Long Haul By Nigerialcolm from Northwest California on 04/12/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels half size too small, Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these boots before doing some light winter mountaineering last winter, followed by guiding a few folks on a yoyo of the Pacific Crest trail. I was carrying a pack weighing a bit over 90 pounds the whole way, 10-15 miles a day, and these boots were just what my tootsies were looking for. They were a little hot through the southern Sierra areas, but nothing that a good liner sock under a full pack sock didn't take care of.
One downside is that, for me, the stock insole isn't that great- I replaced it immediately after making it back from a training trip on Mt. Shasta in these puppies. Popped in a pair of Green Superfeet as soon as I got home and that made them shine.
A good boot, especially for the sale price. I've already bought another pair for when these one's go out.
By kygnarhuckmeat from Crested Butte, CO on 04/07/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Color, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions, work Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Beer Lover, Casual/Recreational, Environmentalist, Tele Bum Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've done everything in these boots. Ten hour work days, fetching firewood for the winter, multi day backpacking, 14er summits, roof shoveling, walking the dog... Great all around boot! A little too heavy for some things.
By Strovia from SC on 03/23/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Excellent boots. Definitely a supportive boot, will be great for off-trail/bushwhacking and med-heavy packs. Much sturdier than a typical mid-weight boot. If you've got a mid/normal volume foot, order 1 full US Size larger than your normal street shoe size and you should be right on.
By The woods are calling me. from Locust Grove, VA on 03/18/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Harsh Terrain, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I chose this boot because I'll be carrying a heavy backpack and, based on the description of it being for that purpose, felt it would be a good choice. I trusted the reviews as well. I have not used them much but the first time I hiked along a river for about 6 miles and they hurt my feet and knees. I waited a day or two and went out again for a mile or two and they felt wonderful. Short break in. I noticed that when my foot tried to roll the boot comfortably prevented me from twisting my ankle. I got down in the cold water and skipped rocks for about a half hour and the boots were warm and totally waterproof. I can't wait to wear them again. My feet seem to cry out for them and I'll be doing an overnighter of 10 miles or so next month. I like em so far.
