Was starting to love'm but then... HOLE! By hike1, hike2, hikehikehike from NYC on 09/11/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction Cons: Not Durable/ Wears Easily Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Very little break-in required. I was happy for 2 dayhikes, but the 3rd time I took these out-- for a week-long trip-- the seam betw the nubuck & rubber guard on the instep of my left foot developed a hole big enough to insert my index finger. Very disappointing. Glad it didn't rain since i didn't bring backup boots.
By JC from California on 08/05/2009 Cons: Not Durable/ Wears Easily, Too Stiff/Not Flexible Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I believe that these were made when La Sportiva was owned by North Face and they shipped all production of their shoes to China. For a boot that is considered for moderate to heavy loads, the materials are flexible and cheap. The foam ankle insert is synthetic piece of nothingness with ample room for water to seep into that seam. I returned mine upon arrival. [...]get something more durable and better constructed.

By hill hiker from petaluma ca on 07/09/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small, Feels too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Seem like good boots, but had to return them. ordered according to the sizing on the website, but the boots were both too narrow and too short. Otherwise seemed like great boots. wouldn't recomend them to gals with wide feet like me.
By Halia from Catskills on 05/26/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Sturdy/Durable Cons: Heavy, Proportions not correct Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Catskill 35er Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I chose not to keep these - I purchased several different summer boots and these did not make the cut, mostly due to the lack of correlation between my legs (short!)and the ankle support (very tall!).
These boots seemed adequately well made. I noted no major issues with construction. Size felt true. Boots were comfortable right away on my feet. They were noticeably heavier than the others I tried. Price vs. quality seemed fine - not amazing, but fine.
By Cattracks31 from Cary, NC on 05/25/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Light Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought these boots because I'm a guy with (VERY) narrow feet and these are great. Fit is spot on. No heel movement when I'm walking and plenty of room for toe movement (usually wear Thor-Lo light hiking socks). Break-in was about a day of solid walking but no hot spots. Good solid boot for moderate loads. I like the arch support as I have a high arch. Didn't need to change out the insole. The boot sole has a nice curve to help push off the step. Gore-tex kept my feet dry during severe Florida downpours. Feet do get a little warm due to the Gore-tex if worn for a long time on a hot day. The Vibram is good and sticky on wet surfaces. Had them a week and (so far) very happy with the purchase.
By Barb from Pasadena,CA on 04/11/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great fit, no blisters or hot spots from day one. I suggest insoles though because my feet were very tired from the hard insoles. I love these boots-will be great support for backpacking. Also good for day hikes when with lots of rocks or stream crossings. They really aren't too heavy. I have a narrow heel and they fit just fine.
By Mountain Grandma from Alaska on 03/18/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I will use these boots for summer hiking. I plan to do some traverses which will require crossing scree, steep inclines both up and down. I think these boots are supportive enough for my trips. I've been walking around it them and they are comfortable and don't seem to need a break in period. I did order them 1/2 size larger, after trying them on in a local store. For me, I need a half size larger in all La Sportive boots. I can't wait to use them in the mountains!

My 3rd pair of La Sportiva hiking boots.
