Satisfactory as a casual shoe for any circumstance.
By The Jeffervescence from Monadnock Region, NH on 02/23/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stable Best Uses: Business Casual, Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Travel, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Style Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased these in the teakwood color - then noticed the good deal on the black ones. I had to get another pair. They have the support of a boot with a boot sole...but look like moccasins. They are also ridiculously comfortable and look great with khakis, jeans, or whatever. These work from my office, to construction sites, to throwing back a beer or seven at the local tavern. I do have a slightly narrow foot, and these fit fantastically for that. Solid purchase.
By Frequent Buyer in Santa Fe from Santa Fe, NM on 01/12/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great traction sole, Lightweight, Poly fleece lined, Stable Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Travel Describe Yourself: Style Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These short boots are very, very comfortable (I'd not seen Patagonia shoes/boots before and tried these -- extremely pleased!) The recycling of materials is a good thing; the rugged soles feel very sure-footed in snow and slush (even some icy patches) with robust, knobby texture. Very comfortable right out of the box; a good height, lined with soft poly fleece for warmth and cushioning, and made of good grained leather. Excellent fit, quality, and many uses for me !

It doesn't look like a hiking boot but it provides plenty of support adn comfort for urban hiking.
