By DC from Springfield, IL on 10/27/2009 Best Uses: Business Casual, Casual Wear Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased this shoe because of the Redwing name and the offering in wide width. I have problem feet and need to have a wide shoe with a wide toe-box and good support. This is not that shoe. There is little to no arch support built in and it runs narrow for the wide width it is suppose to be. Because of this, I had to return them today. I have other pairs of Red Wings that fit great with great support, but this shoe is not one of them. If you have average feet with good arches and are looking for a casual business shoe for kahkis or jeans, this would be a good choice.

Basic construction, low cost option. By Jim the Surfer from San Diego, CA on 07/30/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a casual shoe, not a work shoe. The last is just plastic resin poured over the Vibram sole. There is no shank. Because the top is not thick leather, the shoe has a short break-in period. The tounge is skinny, not padded, and only connected at the bottom. I wear these with arch support insoles, which also provides cushioning. I got these on sale with free shipping, so I with those discounts the price is right for what they are.
By Bob the biker from Madison WI on 06/13/2009 Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: They Red Wing Porter is a good looking shoe and appears to be well made. Unfortunately, I had to return them. The collar came right up to the underside of my ankles, and caused rubbing. They either need to be a little higher and cover the ankle (like the Chukkas) or a little lower cut below the ankle. I did purchase the Red Wing Outback and they fit nicely.
By Will from Russellville, AR on 06/09/2009 Pros: Breathes Well, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stable Best Uses: Business Casual, Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Travel Describe Yourself: Style Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Don't let the picture fool you...These chukkas are more appealing than the photos. They are comfortable out of the box and would be suited for business casual or work, whichever you desire. I can not speak of their durability, but if these Red Wings live up to their heritage, they will give me years of service.
By Treebeard from Sierra, California on 05/23/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Stable Cons: Not as good as barefoot Best Uses: Business Casual, Casual Wear Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Having worn handmade shoes most of my life, it's hard to find good shoes that fit, but the availability of extra width - 4E - made me try these... and I'm extremely pleased. I wore them on a 5-mile hike without any break-in period and they were great!
By Stoph from Detroit area on 04/12/2009 Pros: Breathes Well, Comfortable, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought size 14, because 13 was sold out. They're a bit -- just a little bit -- too big, but I like them. Nice looking and comfortable. At this price, I'd say you got yourself a deal, Big Wheel!
