Whenever I see 'narrow' in shoes, I jump. I have never had an affordable 'chukka' in a 12 that fit snug and had good toe room. These do! But a rather strange construction...at the bottom of the lacing where each side joins the carcass, it's usually sewn so that the attachment won't lift up. These have stitches about 3/4" back from the ends, and that leaves a 'flap' that lifts up from the top of the shoe. I don't know if this will affect durability or not, but I can use rivets there if I have to. Just odd. But these ARE narrow and the heel is very comfortable. Other Red Wing products have been lacking in consistency like their Cocato oxfords, that were supposed to be narrow, but weren't. These chukkas fit well, even with thinner sox, but I wouldn't have paid the 'retail price' of [$]. Thx to STP for the good bargain. Even if they WERE made in a different Chinese garage.
