By Dasto from Evilard, Switzerland on 02/16/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I tried this shoes only once before writing this comment. But I have to say, the grip on ice is outstanding. I didn't slip one inch when I was running on a icy surface!!! This is really the shoe I was looking for to continue my running training during the coldest period of the year. Unfortunately I can't pronounce myself about the durability of the 16 carbide-tipped studs on the sole hope they'll last more than one winter.

By joe blow from Duluth, MN on 12/19/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Warm Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: run trails in Duluth, these shoes fit like the New Balance I usually use, and stick on ice like suction cups. I literally was running on shear ice at one point. They are warm but not too warm. Not quite as "finished" as a nice pair of brand names, but they seem to do the job very well. Not too good in soft snow, but great on anything hard. Even OK on dry roads.
By Alaska Bound from Ann Arbor, MI (for now) on 12/18/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction Cons: Feet can get cold, Feet can get wet, For short runs, Not Water Resistant Best Uses: CHEATING AT BROOMBALL, Cold weather, Icy river runs, Icy trail runs Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: pretty cool shoe, constructed well enough. The only thing that would make this a five star product is a gore-tex lining. Often enough its icy without standing water around to matter much, but sometimes icy trails and standing water go hand in hand, and these shoes fall short there. Otherwise, they are sized a half size too small so order one half size larger and they will fit great. The materials are durable and the spikes are really great, they retract back into the rubber sole on hard surfaces increasing durability.
By Slooow Foot from Greenville, WI on 12/13/2008 Pros: Durable, Great Traction, Stable Cons: Heavy, Not Water Resistant, Stiff Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The traction on these shoes are exceptional. I do find them stiff and a little big for the size.
The studs are starting to wear after a month of heavy use. I run on pavement quite a bit. The studs are beginning to bend in but still give great grip.
They are a little more stiff than what I had hoped. I have used different devices like Yak Trax and others, this the best solution I have found for winter sneakers. The Yak Trax would always break after a month or two.

Winter Running with Confidence By Spock the Runner from Johnstown, PA on 11/23/2008 Pros: Great Traction, Stable Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I had the opportunity to use these shoes during a two day winter storm this past week here in PA. I was a little concerned about running on the spikes, but found them to be just like running in a regular shoe - albeit a little noisy when on drier parts of the roads/sidewalk. I bought them a 1/2 size bigger (as recommended by STP) and find them to fit very well. Plenty of room for a Gortex bootie along with a normal pair of running socks. Feet stayed warm and dry throughout a 40 min run that varied from street to sidewalk to wooded trails. Only issue I noted was the left upper of the heel cup rubbed against my heel and left a blister. I think this will go away after working the shoes in. Overall solid performer that will allow me to continue running outside all winter long without breaking my tailbone!
