By Wide Open Spaces from Portland, OR on 12/31/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Moisture Wicking, Snug Fit, Stylish Best Uses: Cold Weather, Layering, Running, Snow Sports Describe Yourself: Conditioning Exerciser Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have several sets (tops and bottoms) as do the rest of my family. We are very active Oregonians and use these as a base layer all year long. Great for winter mountain activities and for backpacking when the nights and early mornings are cold. Because they are merino wool, a natural fiber, they do not retain body odors which is a real plus on extended back country trips.
Warm and zip neck is convenient By Network Maven from greater Portland, OR area on 12/29/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Zip neck is convenient Best Uses: Cold Weather, Keeping warm n cool house Describe Yourself: Occasional Exerciser Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought the bottoms along with this top. They are marvelous as cotton doesn't keep me warm enough and I don't like synthetics. These wool don't items don't itch as you'd expect, but are very comfortable and warm. The zipper mock turtleneck is convenient in the event you're getting a little too warm or just for getting in and out of the top. These kept me warm in a 68 degree house under my regular winter clothes or when shoveling the driveway of snow!
By Jan from Amelia isla Fl. on 12/09/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Moisture Wicking, Snug Fit Best Uses: Cold Weather, Competition, Gym, Running, Snow Sports, Team Sports Describe Yourself: Frequent Exerciser Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: In trying to save energy at night and still keep warm I wear it to bed. I wish it were just a little bit snugged around the neck and wrists but it does keep me warm
By Hard to Please from Canandaigua on 11/18/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Moisture Wicking, Warm great underlayer Cons: Poor Fit, Sizing is off Best Uses: Cold Weather, Layering, Snow Sports Describe Yourself: Frequent Exerciser Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I ordered the medium, but the sleeves were too tight, while the large was a bit big.
By deerskin from Mpls on 01/29/2008 Cons: Poor Fit, Poorly cut neckline Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I really like this top except for the neckline--the bottom hits mid-neck rather than at the neck base--this makes the zipper bubble rather than lay flat. Whomever did the patterns for these wasn't using human bodies as a model. The neck is small around but I have a small neck so that's fine. I'm going to keep and alter it since it was so cheap.
The armholes are on the large side also.
By Amy from Washington on 01/01/2008 Pros: Lightweight, Snug Fit, Warm Describe Yourself: Weekend Warrior Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wear it skiing and I found that the neck was too tight to zip up (I couldn't breathe)!. If it's unzipped, the zipper gets scratchy. Other than that, it's a great baselayer.
By MK from Bozeman, MT on 12/28/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm Describe Yourself: Weekend Warrior Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Using the words, "relaxed fit," I bought a S, and it was tight, especially under the arms. Thinking one size up would do, I ordered a M, with similar results! I do have larger biceps for a girl, but am usually a 6/8. I am now exchanging the M for a L. The top feels slightly scratchy to my skin, but I am hoping liquid fabric softener will help.
I have this product in the bottoms, and love them. Those actually do run bigger--the S does fit--and are not scratchy. The waist is high enough not to show your butt crack, but low enough not to be, "grannie bottoms."
Nice product with too tight neck By VermontGal from Vermont on 12/23/2007 Pros: Lightweight, Snug Fit, Warm Cons: Poor Fit, Restricts Movement Best Uses: Cold Weather, Running, Snow Sports Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Nice product that is unfortunately too tight in the neck. I normally like turtlenecks for winter wear, but this is just too tight. If you want to wear it unzipped, like the photo, it's fine. Don't plan to zip the t-neck up. If I order again, I will get a crew neck. Following on advice of the other reviewers, I ordered a Medium, which is indicated at size 10-12. I am normally an 8 or maybe 10. The medium fit me fine in the body - just not the neck. I like the idea of returning to wool for a baselayer - I've had it with the poly-pro stench. This is a nice product except for the neck.
