By Johnny law from new mexico on 10/27/2009 Pros: Breathable, Dries Quickly, Durable, Lightweight, Waterproof Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This are advertised as a fishing pant but are the best pants for traditional rock climbing and likely caving out there. They are simply the best that I have ever come across in 15 years of searching. Great for chimney, offwidth and any rock climbing that requires your legs to contact the rock. They are absolutely perfect and tough as nails. I'm buying a second pair today.
rare: softshell zip-off pants By outdoor geek from CA on 09/16/2009 Pros: Durable, Stretchy, Water-resistant Best Uses: Backpacking, Cool weather, Fly Fishing, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Although I do like to go alpine flyfishing, I am most excited about these pants for general mountain travel/backpacking. I like them so much, I bought a 2nd pair of another color. They have a wide comfort range, but are best in cool/cold weather. Since they are wind resistant, they don't breath quite as well as most thinner hiking pants. They have that great combo of stretch, abrasion/wind/water resisance, plus Cloudveil quality.
By Brian the Hiker from Fort Collins, CO on 08/11/2009 Pros: Breathable, Dries Quickly, Durable, Lightweight Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I got these for backpacking and love them. Perfect weight for high country hiking. Versitile with the zipoff legs. Durable fabric that is very water resisitant. Worth buying.
By Seattle Fisherman from Seattle on 07/13/2009 Pros: Breathable, Dries Quickly, Durable, Lightweight, Waterproof Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These pants make a decent substitute for waders when wet-wading cold streams. With the pants tucked into gravel guards over boots, they don't keep you dry, but do keep you warm. Water instantly dries off. They do seem to ride a bit high in terms of sizing, but at least you never worry about them falling down.
By Bruce from Liberty Lake, WA on 07/13/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Dries Quickly, Durable, Lightweight, Sharp looking, Waterproof Best Uses: Canoeing, Freshwater Fishing Describe Yourself: Casual Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great pants for canoe camping
By Terry from Colorado on 06/23/2009 Pros: Breathable, Dries Quickly, Durable Best Uses: Climbing, Fly Fishing, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The soft shell fabric is great; just the right amount of stretch, it is breathable and wind blocking. The pockets are well thought out and functional. The size is true. They are well made and are another example of the high quality garments that I have come to expect from Cloudveil. Great for hiking/climbing and not just fishing.
By CO GUY from FORT COLLINS CO on 04/29/2009 Pros: Breathable, Dries Quickly, Durable Best Uses: Fly Fishing, Hiking, Scrambling Describe Yourself: Professional Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The fit is great but what I love most is the fabric. It's stetchy light weight soft shell fabric so it is very durable for climbing over rocks. I use this pant for wet wading and the fabric seems to dry instantly. I am going to buy another pair. By Rochester Ron from Rochester, NY on 04/07/2009 Pros: Durable, Stretchy, Warmth Cons: Legs are kind of baggy Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cool weather, Fly Fishing, Freshwater Fishing Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use the pants for fishing in cool, not cold weather. Storage pockets are useful. Stretch in material comes in handy when bending, kneeling, etc. While I haven't had them very long, they may become my favorite fishing pants.
By Camper # 3 from Raleigh, NC on 03/17/2009 Pros: Breathable, Dries Quickly, Durable, Lightweight Best Uses: Backpacking and climbing Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased these for backpacking. I like a sturdier pant than the typical nylon convertible. They were too long for me at 33" so I had them hemmed. I lost a couple of inches on the side zip but oh well. This is the only convertible soft shell on the market at this time. Great buy!
