Economy, Practicality and Strength! By MrBobzilla from Ventura, CA on 08/19/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Dries Quickly, Durable, Easy To Put On And Take Off Best Uses: Boating, Colder Water, Kayaking, Paddling Describe Yourself: Enthusiast Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've purchased this product once before and seeing and using it on the open ocean, I became convinced to come back to "The Post" and buy another one. At 6' and 175 with extra long arms,I thought that I'd need an XL, but the L works just fine. The garment allows for rotational movement for paddling without being restrictive or chaffing.Plenty water-resistant and comfortable.
Nice-looking and Rugged Splash Top By MrBobzilla from Ventura, CA on 08/18/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Dries Quickly, Durable, Easy To Put On And Take Off Best Uses: Boating, Colder Water, Paddling Describe Yourself: Enthusiast Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: At 6' and 175 lbs with extra long arms,I'm normally a size XL, but the L worked fine. The sleeves and waist-length gives me plenty of rotational flexibility for paddling without sacrificing coverage.
By Paddling Chick from Klamath Falls, OR on 08/17/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable Best Uses: Boating, Colder Water, Paddling Describe Yourself: Casual Athlete Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My first use of this jacket was a week ago on a raft trip down the Upper Klamath River. The Class III-IV+ rapids made sure this jacket got a good test. It was comfortable, kept me very dry, and was roomy through the chest and arms so it didn't bind when I paddled. The jacket is advertised as uni-sex. I am a female and ordered the medium. It fits well everywhere, but at the bottom where it goes around the hips - it is snug. There is a cordlock to tighted/loosen the bottom but I will not be able to do either - and I have average hips for my size. It seems to definately be cut for a man's physique. This smaller bottom affects the ease with which it went on. It doesn't go on as easily other splash jackets might, but once on I liked the protection it gave me. Better quality and protection than the splash jackets provided by the rafting company. I look forward to using it kayaking this winter. The smaller bottom opening was why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. I would recommend this to a friend with the right build.
Extrasport X-Tended Splash Top - Lg Slv By BigJohnson from Lecanto, FL on 08/09/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Put On And Take Off Best Uses: Boating, Paddling Describe Yourself: Casual Athlete Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased this to use kayak fishing. In addition to keeping one dry when dealing with chop in the yak, it keeps the sun off my arms and neck. Other reviewers had trouble getting it on and off; not so for me. Loosen the velcro at the neck and wrists and it pulls over my head quite easily (I'm 6'3" and 225 pounds). Don't treat it like a long sleeve t-shirt but pull it off by loosening the velcroed areas and then pulling over your head from the neck. It keeps the spray off of you. This is a great buy for an effective garment.
Great "Splash Top" for paddling & shore By R.A from NY on 08/08/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Dries Quickly, Durable, Easy To Put On And Take Off Best Uses: Paddling, Surf fishing fishing top Describe Yourself: Enthusiast Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a "Splash Top" meant for keeping you dry from paddle splash or rain.
It is NOT a semi-dry top , or dry top, both of which are designed for actual water submersion.
I am stating this because other reviewers have seemed to misundertood the difference between the different types of tops.
This is an outstanding top, and an oustanding value when purchased and used for the purpose the top is intended for.
It also makes an absolutely great rain top and splash top, to be worn with your waders when surf fishing, or fishing from shore during the cooler months or during night fishing.
As a matter of fact, this might actually be the best use for the top overall...
Truly a great bargain.
The sizing runs Very Small. By Mumm 30 from Cleveland, Ohio on 08/05/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Dries Quickly, Durable, The sizing runs VERY SMAL Describe Yourself: Enthusiast Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The only complaint I have is the sizing is horribly incorrect. I ordered two, one for my girlfriend and myself. My XL, (I'm 6'3" / 200#) fit my girlfriend, (5'3" / 145#) To wear the medium, you'd have to be 5'2", and very thin.
The quality itself seems good, (I can't wear mine though) and is great for sailing, which is what they were purchased for.
Lacking a little on neck seal By ricko from Billings, MT on 07/21/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Dries Quickly Best Uses: Boating, Colder Water, Paddling Describe Yourself: Enthusiast Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Lacking a little on the neck and wrist seals. Would be better to have neoprene rather than just material. My experience with spash jackets tells me that it won't hold out the "rough" water. Ok for the price.
Liked it so much I bought another! By Danger Ranger from Lotus, CA on 07/03/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Dries Quickly, Durable, Easy To Put On And Take Off Best Uses: Boating, Paddling Describe Yourself: Enthusiast Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I regularly paddle the South Fork of the American River in California. The weather is hot and the water is cold. This jacket is the perfect combination of light, breathable, and well sealed at the neck and wrists. The open waist (no gusset) is nice for cooling off. When I roll, water trickles in, I don't just fill up. This is VERY nice. I like it so much, I bought another one.
By Momma Muffin from Idaho Falls, Idaho on 07/03/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Price Best Uses: Boating, Colder Water, Paddling Describe Yourself: Enthusiast Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought two so that I could share with friends when we go rafting.
By Raft lady from Aspen, CO on 06/29/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Dries Quickly, Easy To Put On And Take Off Best Uses: Boating, Paddling, Rafting Describe Yourself: Casual Athlete Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I liked this top. I have only used it a little bit, but that little bit was good. I was shopping for a dry top, which this is not. Duh; it's all in the name:). Still, I liked it. It definitely does not look like a custie jacket, so I'm happy about that. I liked the fit, the water temperature didn't bother me with the sucker, and it is private property. Big plus. I like it, and I would recommend this top.
