By JennT from Miami, FL on 04/29/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I really like this boot. Love Love Love the single sided tongue--it really prevents the sideways tongue wagging show! The only thing I'd change about the boot is the height. It's about one inch too short for me. Otherwise, great great boot!
By Lisa Pisa from Boise, ID on 03/20/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Researched feedback on several different boots before I bought these. Felt very comfortable the moment I put them on. Enough support in all the right places. Had them on the trail already, grip well down steep/rocky terrain. The only adjustment I had to make was loosening the laces around the ankle when tied too tight.
By Hawaii Plant lover from Hilo HI on 03/19/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Water Resistant Cons: Not Durable/ Wears Easily, Soles too thin Best Uses: If your don't hike often, Light Loads Describe Yourself: Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Do not use these boots if you haike off trail or in rough terrain. I bought them three and a half months ago and need a new pair already! The sole wears out very quickly, tears on rocks, and the shoe lace eyes break VERY easily.
By hyoter from rensselaer, ny on 03/16/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: i've owned half a dozen hiking boots in my life and i've never seen a pair that is more perfectly constructed. the leather is absolutely beautiful. the asymmetrical tongue is very comfortable.
i wear my boots around town as well and in the wild. these boots are not too heavy for everyday use but seem very sturdy so that will be great for my purposes.
sizing was a bit tricky for me. i am on the border between 7.5 and 8. mostly i wear 8. i ordered the boots in 8 and 8.5 because of the note to order up a half size. the 8s turned out to be perfect for me. so i guess i'd say they run a 1/4 size to small.
By Jude from Finger Lakes region, Western New York on 03/16/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I just got these boots a week ago and have worn them every day for two hour hikes in the hills to break them in, and I have been amazed at the incredible comfort, given they are a pretty stiff boot, which is exactly what I was looking for! I have weak ankles from old injuries, and these boots give superior ankle support. I was hoping the asymmetrical tongue/lacing design would remedy the "tongue shift and drift issue" that I have battled with on every pair of boots I've ever owned; I am happy to say that it has! The tongue stays absolutely centered and I haven't had to stop once to re-lace! I was a bit concerned about ordering a half size up as suggested because I have a relatively narrow foot, but I am glad I did; the fit is perfect. Snow sealing the leather darkens them nicely. The quality of leather and crafting on the construction are clearly top notch; they are 5 star all the way! Can't wait for my next mountain trip . . .

By cycle gal from tucson, az on 01/27/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I needed a stiffer sole and wider toe box. I like a leather boot that forms to your foot. I haven't had a chance to do a long hike yet with them.
By K the Hiker from San Diego, CA on 01/27/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I don't know why they call these boots "lite" because they are very strong and durable. Mine have peaked Whitney and trekked in Peru and everywhere in between. I LOVE the asymmetrical tongue design AKU uses on these boots. I am difficult to fit with boots and these have been a life saver for me! AKU seems to have phased out their AKU USA products so you may have to buy from Europe for your next pair.
By C from CT on 01/20/2009 Pros: Great Traction, Heavy, Stable, Sturdy, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold weather, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These weigh more than many contemporary boots, come up higher on the ankle, and have heavy, stiff soles, all of which qualities make me love them. They are GREAT in the snow. I bought size 9 and a half, and on the label it says the boots are US size 9 and a quarter.
I received these boots as a gift.
