INTERESTING EXCELLENT BOOT By MDC from SLC from Salt Lake City, UT on 07/04/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Lightweight, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Light Loads, Warm weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This boot is similar if not identical to a boot AKU developed for the U.S. Navy Seals, except for the color which was all gray. I see this boot as multi- terrain with an emphasis on rocky terrain, sort of a high top approach shoe, but the shoe is actually quite good for anything short of backpacking with heavy loads. I imagine these boots would be good in the rocky deserts of Utah and the Southwest. The only weakness is they are a little slippery in wet conditions and not the best tread for snowy conditions, and I don't know if you could waterproof them, but this is a summer boot anyway in my opinion. I could see this boot being used as a mountaineering boot in rocky but dry conditions. All in all a very light weight boot that's well made and comfortable with a snug fit like an approach shoe. I bought my usual size, but have worn a slightly lighter weight sock than usual and the shoe is still very comfortable. An excellent boot and very unique.
