I'm a rural mail carrier and wear them all year round. They're cool in the summer and warm in the winter. They last and last. I particularly like these hiking socks because they come up higher on my leg and will help keep not only my feet, but my legs warm this winter. You can't beat SmartWool socks for comfort, quality and usefullnes.

The knee high length is great for extra calf warmth, but may proof too warm if you were out all day hiking.
