Comments:
It is the end of October here in Kansas City, MO and it has been awfully windy and awfully cold awfully early and so purchasing a fleece was gear priority numero uno. For hours--a combine day at least worth of time--bounced around the idea of buying a fleece from The North Face, Mountain Hardwear, Marmot, Patagonia, Columbia, or several other companies from several online retailers--[...] to name a few--and I just could NOT find the right fleece. I love quality but I am a bargain hunter at heart and so I just could not bring myself to spend more than $100 to get at least a Midweight to Heavyweight full-zip BLACK fleece that not only keeps me warm but has the secondary function of being stylish. Just when I was thinking about giving up, I happened upon this beauty, the Westcomb Nova Fleece, on Sierra Trading Post. I could not believe that this [$] MSRP, higher end than Arc'teryx and Patagonia, athletic fitted fleece--I am 21 and I like a tighter fit, not skintight, but tight--that hit all the checkmarks on my list, midweight, warm and breathable, full-zip, black, and stylish, could be only [$]. So, I did the logical thing and scooped it up. For the first week of wearing this, I kept on noticing how well made this was. The stitching is some of the best I have ever seen on any gear and no stitching ever comes in contact with skin unlike some other fleeces. The waterproofing on the pockets is ridiculously well done. It keeps me perfectly warm with a baselayer underneath and a regular jacket on top in below freezing weather. And it looks SO GOOD on. The only con is that it's not a windproof jacket, but it's not supposed to be so I don't really consider that a detraction. Altogether, the quality plus the top-notch customer service from Sierra Trading Post makes this one of the most pleasurable buys I've ever made. Thank you and Jesus bless you Sierra Trading Post for this blessing.

Comments:
This is an amazing product. The Polartec thermal pro is noticeably warmer than my other 200wt fleece jacket (although that is warm too). The inside finish is very soft, though it does cling a bit to any sweaters I wear. The outside finish looks more like a sweater or nice sweatshirt, very stylish. The overall fit is trim, as it was designed to be, to minimize bulk when climbing or skiing. That said, a thick wooly sweater may feel tight underneath, but a thin merino wool dress sweater fits fine. Westcomb is one of THE top outdoor clothing company around, and you won't be disappointed by this product.

Comments:
You can buy many fleece jackets for less money than the Westcomb. But the Westcomb is better made (in Canada!) than most of the ones I've owned, more stylish, and is very warm. It's got reinforced, zippered pockets, and a very nice textured finish on the outside. It has a slim fit, which is maybe not for everyone. I'm very pleased with this jacket, and will wear it both as outerwear on mild Fall days, and layered under a down jacket on colder days.

Classy looking fleece. It looks and fits like a fine wool jacket. Only issue is that my husband wants a wristband that cinches. He feels this one lets too much air in. Otherwise, great.

good product, tight fit
By deal connoisseurVerified Reviewer from New Jersey on 03/23/2009
Pros:
Attractive Design, Comfortable, Lightweight, Warm
Cons:
Poor Fit
Describe Yourself:
Trendy/Stylish Dresser
Sizing:
Feels too small
Sleeve Length:
Feels true to length
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I am normally a size medium in everything. I had to return the medium and get a large for this jacket instead because the cut is just too tight. Fortunately, the sleeve length is about the same in the large as in he medium. On the plus side, The jacket has a very good feel to it and seems well made. I am looking forward to wearing this under my shell for next year's skiing season.
