Thicker gauge than some dress socks makes them soft, comfortable and smooth but also most appropriate for the cooler seasons. I bought several pairs of argyles with top designer labels at department stores but none compare to the Pantherellas in overall quality and style. Wish these came in an even wider array of colors as I would not have had to buy the others.

I think this is because I have a high instep (high volume) foot and I don't think it takes anything away from a nice product.
