i always carry a couple of knives in my pockets, when i need to open a package or mail or open a bottle i reach for this simple tool first, a reasonable blade for cutting, a handy bottle opener, even an emergency nail file, nice knife for everyday chores...

Perfect EDC pocket knife
By TinkTacToeVerified Reviewer from NYC on 08/22/2009
Pros:
Comfortable Grip, Functional, Sharp Blade, Variety Of Tools
Best Uses:
Home
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
My only complaint is that the Alox coating chips off in small spots from banging around in my pocket with my keys. Otherwise you get the expected Victorinox quality, sharp stainless blades and well designed tools. I also like that the knife has a slim profile so it isn't bothersome in my pocket.

Comments:
Nice knife, great price. I've had other Swiss Army Knives in the past but this one is different. It is thinner, lighter, with a sharper blade. It feels more functional even though the other styles had more tools. I'll miss having a corkscrew! But the streamlined design of this one and the nice grip make it worthwhile.

Comments:
Love this knife! The perfect balance of basic utility and portability. I know, this knife does not have pliers or a lockable blade, and nor should it. Those roles are reserved for the multitools and specialty knives of the world. What's great about this model is that it makes no excuses for what it is, a humble yet very useful tool that because of it's simplicity and size will be there with you every time you need it. As such, I have found that this is the most used knife I have ever owned.

This is a handy, practical, functional little knife. Not a heavyweight, but certainly a handy knife for everyday use as a pocket knife. You just cannot go wrong buying a Victorinox.

Nice slender midsize pocketknife
By BobVerified Reviewer from Raton NM on 03/27/2009
Pros:
Comfortable Grip, Functional
Cons:
Useless Tools
Best Uses:
Camping, Home
Describe Yourself:
Casual Adventurer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Victorinox offers the most consistent quality of any brand of knives, and this alox Cadet is no exception. It's very slim and would fit comfortably in a pants pocket. The textured alox (aluminum oxide) handles provide a better grip than the standard Swiss Army Knives' smooth plastic. The alox looks great too, making this suitable for gift-giving. I would recommend this knife for basic outdoor use - hiking and simple camping. It would also be at home in an office or professional environment. My gripes: The alox models lack the tweezers and toothpicks. The tools on this are redundant - the can opener also opens bottles, so why a separate bottle opener?

Pros:
Durable, Functional, Sharp Blade, Variety Of Tools
Best Uses:
Camping, Home

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
This is one of the most useful pocket knives that can also be comfortably carried in a pair of dress pants that I have ever owned. I wish the nail file was a drilling awl like the one in the larger version, but even it is handy for untying belligerent knots.
