By TinkTacToe from NYC on 08/22/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Functional, Sharp Blade, Variety Of Tools Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My only complaint is that the Alox coating chips off in small spots from banging around in my pocket with my keys. Otherwise you get the expected Victorinox quality, sharp stainless blades and well designed tools. I also like that the knife has a slim profile so it isn't bothersome in my pocket.
By shoefan from new york on 07/08/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Durable, Functional, Sharp Blade, Variety Of Tools Best Uses: Camping, Home, Survival Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Nice knife, great price. I've had other Swiss Army Knives in the past but this one is different. It is thinner, lighter, with a sharper blade. It feels more functional even though the other styles had more tools. I'll miss having a corkscrew! But the streamlined design of this one and the nice grip make it worthwhile.
Lightweight and good for everyday carry. By Sparkplug from Dalton, Ga. on 06/30/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Durable, Functional, Sharp Blade Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Just what I wanted, a utility knife without the weight and bulk of larger SAK's.
Great Victorinox quality! By slufstuff from Lexington, SC on 06/04/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Durable, Functional, Sharp Blade, Variety Of Tools Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Compact knife with tough alox aluminum alloy handles. Super sharp, exceptional value.
By nyla 2015 from Santa Monica, CA on 05/14/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Durable, Functional, Sharp Blade Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Love this knife! The perfect balance of basic utility and portability. I know, this knife does not have pliers or a lockable blade, and nor should it. Those roles are reserved for the multitools and specialty knives of the world. What's great about this model is that it makes no excuses for what it is, a humble yet very useful tool that because of it's simplicity and size will be there with you every time you need it. As such, I have found that this is the most used knife I have ever owned.
By Jeepman12 from Dallas, Tx. on 04/03/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Durable, Functional, Sharp Blade, Variety Of Tools Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a handy, practical, functional little knife. Not a heavyweight, but certainly a handy knife for everyday use as a pocket knife. You just cannot go wrong buying a Victorinox.
Nice slender midsize pocketknife By Bob from Raton NM on 03/27/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Functional Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Victorinox offers the most consistent quality of any brand of knives, and this alox Cadet is no exception. It's very slim and would fit comfortably in a pants pocket. The textured alox (aluminum oxide) handles provide a better grip than the standard Swiss Army Knives' smooth plastic. The alox looks great too, making this suitable for gift-giving.
I would recommend this knife for basic outdoor use - hiking and simple camping. It would also be at home in an office or professional environment.
My gripes: The alox models lack the tweezers and toothpicks. The tools on this are redundant - the can opener also opens bottles, so why a separate bottle opener?
I have given lots of these as gifts. By NJ from palo alto on 03/17/2009 Pros: Durable, Functional, Sharp Blade, Variety Of Tools Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is one of the most useful pocket knives that can also be comfortably carried in a pair of dress pants that I have ever owned. I wish the nail file was a drilling awl like the one in the larger version, but even it is handy for untying belligerent knots.
