They don't take much break-in time.
The shallow tread allows for good riding and just enough to keep you from slip-sliding around the barn.

Other women's steel toe boots don't have that 1 1/2" heel I want. These boots are a little stiff at first, but that's just a sign that the leather is thick and durable. They broke in after 3-4 wears. I just wore thicker socks during the break-in. The tread isn't too deep that they squeak on the floor, but they give you adequate traction for my purposes; walking hills, muddy spots, the woods. Good ankle support.
