My son ended up with a heavy back pack but was able to
"carry the load". He hiked with his troop up the White Mts in New Hampshire. This was his first "serious" hiking trip. He did well. We were able to stow his gear without problems. We had to pack for T' of 20'. The pack was very adjustable.

By Mojo from San Diego on 06/24/2009 Pros: Good Padding, Large Capacity Cons: Bulky, Heavy, Very hot Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Old design, I have a 6 year old pack that mimics this pack! I would rather spend an extra hundred bucks and get an Osprey! The back padding has no channels for air flow, hence the hot factor. The pack is heavy, but not much more than packs in its holding capacity. The suspension design is great if you would use this as a loner pack, it fits a wide range of torso's. I got this pack, because its hard to find packs for 23 in torso's.

Let's Head For The Mountains! By Wildjuan from Loleta CA on 06/12/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Load, Good Padding, Highly Adjustable, Large Capacity Best Uses: Extended Hikes, Heavy Loads, Travel, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My son helped me coose this for himself. He loves it. He was using one of my old packs that was more of a large daypack or made for a single overnight.
This pack is large enough for multi-night pack-ins and to put his sleeping bag inside for shiorter adventures. It is also fully adjusable to fit people of different sizes.
It is a great pack for the price. It could have easily cost double in this area.
By PT3 from Omaha, NE on 05/31/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Load Best Uses: Extended Hikes, Heavy Loads, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm 6'1 180 and I hiked down the Grand Canyon with this pack. It is well padded and comfortable (once adjusted). It does not come with any instructions. I did not adjust the torso until after my trip because the adjustable section is hidden in the small of the back. The water bottles are inaccessible in the belt by the wearer. These are minor problems and if the price is right for you then you need to get this pack. The materials are of high quality.
