It also includes a duck back to ensure complete water resistance. The padding is perfect for my build (5'11" 190lbs). Lowe Alpine makes solid gear that I know will last and I look forward to many backpacking trips throughout the rocky mountains. It is a simple design with everything you need and nothing you do not.

It makes 50 lbs feel like 30. It is very ajustable. I was able to adjust the lumbar portion several times while hiking to make it a better fit. There are pleanty of ways to cofigure your gear on this great extended hike pack.
Review from a 1st Time Backpacker By Jazz2112 from Northern Maryland on 04/28/2009 Pros: Easy To Load, Highly Adjustable, Large Capacity Cons: Out of reach side pockets, Thin shoulder straps Best Uses: Day Hikes, Extended Hikes, Medium Loads, Weekend Hikes Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this pack after a week of reading up and shopping. I am a newbie backpacker and the price/ quality was my main factor in purchasing this pack.
I used this pack for a weekend hike along the AT. It served me well. All advertised features rang true. The TFX 5 system worked great after a few re-adjustments. I love that the pack came with a rain cover.
As for pros and cons: The pros are good quality construction, adequate pockets and compartments, multiple adjustment straps, good overall comfort. The cons are periodically uncomfortable shoulder straps and hard to reach water bottle side pockets (I didn't use the bladder system).
Bottom line for this newbie: Great pack for the price with just a couple of shortcomings. I am 5'9", 180lbs, medium stocky build and I carried ~45lbs with this pack.

EXCELLENT and versatile pack By NoleAnimal from Monterey, CA on 03/28/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Load, Good Padding, Highly Adjustable, Large Capacity Best Uses: Extended Hikes, Heavy Loads, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This pack is amazing. I barely even know where to start. I believe the reviewer may have not adjusted the adjustable suspension properly, so I'll start there.
The TFX system is super easy to adjust and allows you to adjust the fit of the pack to your torso. This way the hip belt is always sitting in the most comfortable place for you and the lumbar pad is right in the small of your back, which makes it extremely comfortable. This pack has the best lumbar pad I have ever seen.
Speaking of the hip belt, the padding even has a depression molded into it where your the top of pelvic bone sinks into the belt a little. This is an very nice feature that adds even more comfort.
The shoulder straps are well padded and some might consider them a little narrow, but the padding keeps them from digging in. The chest strap is full adjustable. The pack has many other straps for load adjustment that make this pack such a comfort to wear.
There are many other good features on this pack, but you find them on most packs in this price range, so I'll mention a few that stand out to me. The first is the included rain cover (which is "rescue-me" orange). Very nice and would be ultra-visible if you ever needed to be.
The sleeping bag compartment easily fits my Big Agnes Savery SL without a compression sack. The main storage area of the pack can also be accessed from the main face of the pace by a zipper and velcro access panel, as well as the top. The external pockets on the side are very well setup.
The only complaint I have is that the sleeve for the hydration bladder is rather wide and not very deep, and there is nothing to hang it on at the top. I can use my 3L CamelBak bladder with it, but it's occasionally inconvenient.
Finally! Decent pack in a natural color!
