love these pants, the fit and the color By dlight from San Francisco, CA on 09/11/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Off white color, Stylish, Waterproof Cons: Know your european size, Not Enough Pockets or Features, Poor Sizing Best Uses: Backcountry, Cross Country, Downhill, Hiking, Packable, Snowboarding/Skiing Describe Yourself: Advanced Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Make sure you order two 'sizes' above your usual street size. The sizes are European so if you know your Euro size, you'll be fine. I wear a street 4/6 and ordered the 38, which fit perfectly with a little room for layering underneath.
By seeking peace. from Redwood Coast of California on 05/02/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Stylish, Waterproof Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, rainy weather Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Based on other reviews, I ordered a size larger. I normally wear a 4 in street clothes so I ordered a 6. Very tight across the hips, the waist fit well. I also found them to be quite short. I am 5'5" and have about a 29-30" inseam. Had to send them back.
By northcountry person from Canton, NY on 03/25/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Fishing in rain, Gathering sap for maple s, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Rain Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These pants are great. I have wanted a pair of waterproof pants for a while & these are just what I wanted. They keep the rain & wind out keeping you warm in cold windy weather, but are not hot in warm weather. I got them in a size larger than I normally wear to give me space for jeans under them. They fit great, not binding in any way. A bit long because they are a larger size, but not a problem.
By dee dee from Providence, RI on 01/26/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Waterproof Cons: Not Enough Pockets or Features Describe Yourself: Advanced Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought 2 pairs to compare. They are ok but nothing great. Everyone said how they were small but the next size up was too large for me. I think I wanted them for the price but not really worth it for me. Maybe for 2nd pair or so.
By Kim from Seattle, WA on 01/15/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Backcountry, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've not had pants like this since I was a tot. These are much different and definitely easier to get out of for those necessary breaks.
By Kale & Collards from Western Washington on 01/07/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Stylish, Waterproof Best Uses: Backcountry, Cross Country, Downhill, Hiking, Snowboarding/Skiing Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Rain, Winter Sports Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are really well made and flattering. I have tried on my fair share of waterproof gear and am very happy to find pants with a fit like these. I checked the lowe alpine web site for their sizing charts before I ordered and while I am a usually an 8 in other brands, the 10 in these fit just right. If you have the chance, i recommend checking their chart, as these really do reflect those measurements. The length may be a different story for some. A taller lady might not find these to be long enough... I am 5'2 and usually pants are 4-5 inches too long, but these are only an inch or so too long. Great features of velcro & snaps on waistbasnd, love the zippers all the way down the leg and the gaiters are super handy...why dont all shell pants have these?! Matieral feels very durable and strong. Super Buy!
By Jennifer from Seattle, WA on 08/20/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Warm, Waterproof Describe Yourself: Advanced Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Wore these to the top of Mt.Rainier. Despite hight winds and blowing snow at the top I remained quite warm in these pants layered over hiking pants. One caution, however, the sizing is really wrong. Order at least 2 sizes larger than your regular pants size- 3 sizes if you plan on wearing a thick fleece layer underneath.
Make sure you buy a bigger size! By Rainier or bust! from Seattle, WA on 05/27/2008 Pros: Lightweight, Waterproof Best Uses: Backcountry, Cross Country, Downhill, Freestyle, Mountaineering Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I usually wear a pants size 6/8, but when I ordered these in a size 8 I couldn't even zip them up. I traded for a 10, but they are still a bit snug. Plan on getting 2 sizes bigger than your pants size, especially if you will be wearing layers underneath.
These sit high on the waist, and have a high back. They can be worn with suspenders, too. The leg contains an inner gaiter that is wide enough to fit around a ski boot or plastic mountaineering boot.
