I use it for sailing during the season in New England in everything but the worst conditions. Keeps you dry, without the sweating, light weight and does not restrict your movement.

By the dog trainer from Davis, CA on 12/08/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Stylish, Waterproof Best Uses: Backcountry, Casual Wear Describe Yourself: Advanced Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these pants because I needed a new pair of waterproof pants and these have the essentials: they're completely waterproof and have zippers at the ankle. (I wish they went all the way up.)
I use them in the damp mornings for tracking with my dog, and I'll try them out for backpacking, though they are slightly heavy for that use.
They're lined, very comfortable, not very warm (so on colder mornings I put long underwear underneath them). They seem very well made, and don't have too many bells & whistles. I am getting used to the zippered pockets. I just wish I'd gotten them in bright red!
