Perfect! Just what I was looking for! By Sandy-around-town-and-in-the-woods. from Metro Detroit on 07/22/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight Best Uses: Casual Wear, Geocaching, Hiking and Camping, Mushrooming, Walking the dog Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This vest is nearly perfect! Carries my GPS, cell phone, sun block, bug spray, keys, ID/money, all secure and hands free with plenty of pocket room to spare. Room for 'poop bags' when walking Maggie, treats and a couple small toys for Maggie at the dog park, mushroom mesh bags when on forays with the Mushroom club. The back/side/hip pockets are perfect for carrying a couple water bottles.
Perfect for a bike ride around the neighborhood, a trip to the farmer's market, an afternoon at the bark park. Light weight, can't hardly tell you are wearing it, yet carries the load comfortably. I ordered a size up what I thought I would need, glad I did: there's room enough to wear a sweatshirt or lite fleece jacket under the vest in spring and fall. The insect shield seems effective for all but the deepest woods when hunting the elusive mushroom. Hoping the durability matches the functionality, I'm planning on ordering a second vest for a back-up.
Very light, comfy + Buzz Off By [@] from Hawaii on 06/28/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Has InsectShield, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought my first vest from Ex Officio direct and liked it for the above reasons. I wanted a 2nd vest so that I can wash it during photo safaris to Africa and South America, etc. My chest is on the top end of Extra Small (5'2" female), but I bought a small so that I can wear it over fleece/jackets if needed. If you are looking to wear in warm/hot climates only, then buy your true size. The lower pockets are generous in size and there are 3 each per side: zippered, flapped and side opened, in addition to the chest pockets. I own a ton of vests; i.e., Magellans, BigPockets, CampCo safari vest, Orvis, etc. - and tried several others. This is the lightest and most comfortable of all - plus it has InsectShield.

It does seem to run big so I ordered a size smaller than normal and it fits just fine. Although I have yet to wear it hiking, I think it will do just fine!
