"One size doesn't fit all" By None from Atlanta, Georgia on 10/14/2009 Describe Yourself: Casual Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this item on special. It appears to perform as advertised but it does not fit me. So I had to return it.
By Jimmy from Minneapolis, MN on 10/13/2009 Best Uses: Fresh Water, Salt Water Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The sewing on one of the cloth hinges was ripped out. It looks like a repair had been attempted on an original production defect but it didn't work. Not a big deal but it's quite a let down when you purchase a great item, only to find a defect.
By JM from Tennessee on 09/17/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy To Maintain, Functional Cons: Difficult To Use, Poor Design Best Uses: Fresh Water, Traveling Describe Yourself: Casual Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Not a bad piece of gear, but seems like it might be designed for bigger guys. Im 5'11, 200lbs and had to cinch the waist straps all the way down to keep it from slipping off my shoulder. Other than the fit though, the pack performed as expected. Plenty of room for a good selection of flies and tippet, plus extra space for tools, food, a packable jacket and some water. Has held up well after a summer of use, and I have no plans whatsoever to replace it.
By FishFish from Oregon on 08/31/2009 Describe Yourself: Casual Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was able to figure out how to get the sling to work with no problem. I have been using for about a week now and I really like it. The more I use it the more I like it. I did have to "work" at getting it to fit just right, but now it's good to go.
By VF from Woodinville, WA on 08/24/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy To Maintain, Easy To Use, Functional Best Uses: Fresh Water, Traveling Describe Yourself: Casual Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This bag is wonderful! I had it on and adjusted in seconds. The construction is super heavy duty and I especially appreciate the way the pockets are designed so that when you open them, the contents will stay inside until you're ready to remove them. The main front pouch has 3 pockets: the very front pocket has a great tippet reel holder so that they stay in place and you can just pull off what you need. Behind that is a foam fly tray and pocket for your leaders, right where you need them. The rear most pocket of the 3 has storage for your tools, pencil, etc. There are also 2 pockets w/headset ports on them. Another buyer mentioned putting a hydration bag in the rear pocket and I plan to do the same. The bag is very comfortable to wear - I wasn't sure how it would fit a woman, but no worries - it's perfect. It will hold everything I need while out on the water. By the lower right front pocket, there is a small strap where I can attach a couple of 'biners to hold tools, etc. I also bought the Wind River Gear Black Canyon tackle bag that's for sale and it will hold everything else I need at streamside. This sling bag is an excellent value and with the coupons from STP, I got it for [$]- it doesn't get any better than that!
By Atlanta angler from Decatur, GA on 08/24/2009 Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I think this is discontinued by WJ, and I can understand that. As an alternative to a vest, it seems like a good idea, but I don't know that the idea really works for most; I have met some who really like this, but it's not for me. One reason is that I don't like a chest pack (like to see the feet), and that is a (the?) major utility component here. Unfortunately, I can't comfortably arrange it so that the "chest" unit spends most of it's time on my back; the "lesser" straps & pads just don't match well for me that way. But, WJ is justly thought of as a quality brand, and if you want a "chest pack plus" this is worth a try.
By Fly Fisherman from MA. on 06/01/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy To Maintain, Easy To Use, Functional Cons: Slides off sometimes Best Uses: Fresh Water, Traveling Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It is a good vest for carrying a limited
supply for a short trip of fishing. Much cooler
than a full vest in warm weather
It is a little different getting used to.

By Hiker Gold from Morgantown, WV on 05/07/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Functional Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this pack because I didn't want a regular old cumbersome vest and this pack delivered! It has adequate space to hold all my gear (which is a lot) and remain comfortable. It is also very easy to cast with it on when flyfishing. Also, during hot weather in the summer this pack is great for keeping me cool.
By Fly Fisher from Central Texas on 05/05/2009 Cons: Difficult To Use, Poor Design Best Uses: Fresh Water, Not sure Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I tried to get this sling pack to fit properly and sit in a position that made sense. After 30 minutes I gave up and have now returned it. The shoulder strap keeps slipping down, the back strap makes you sweat. Its a great idea and maybe for some it works, unfortunately for me it does not.
