Great pack for Carrying both my fishing and camera gear. Was able to dispense with four fly boxes and just use the inserts. Much lighter load now.

Comments:
I fly fish almost all year round and i use this pack for all of my long day outings. it has enough capacity for clothing and gear to keep me happy during an early spring steelheading trip. Also, it is equally useful for a summer hiking/fly fishing trip to a secluded trout creek. The pack fabric is amazingly abrasion resistance and durable. Thorns, brush, sharp rocks, water, snow, and ice - nothing caused any damage damage ti the fabric yet. Washing and cleaning is easy and quick. I also like the suspension design because it is light and supportive. When the pack is full, the weight is distributed evenly. I did not feel any particular pressure point. The adjustable suspension system also makes it easy to get a comfortable fit and feel. Finally, as the suspension also lets air flow through the back side, it manages sweat and moisture impressively well. Overall a very good pack for fishing/hiking day trips. on mid winter fishing trips, I wish the pack had a bit more space like 2000-2400 cui range. Also, the price is a bit high for a fishing pack. Other than that this is a solid and reliable product from William Joseph.

This is good pack. However, be aware that if you've looked at it from other sources, as I did, this one from Sierra Trading Post doesn't include the two spectra gear retractors.

Comments:
This pack is great if you want to toss some food or extra clothes in the back. However, the pack portion is too small for my needs (professional photographer). If you want to put some serious camera gear in the back, you'll want to go to a larger William Joseph pack.

Comments:
This pack is great! It is built with very good quality, and storage capacity. It even has some forward pads for your flies. It is very comfortable to wear as well. Some of the places that I travel to fly fish are in the "boondocks", and this pack does me a super job. It is roomy enough to pack a lunch, and still have plenty of room left for your gear. The only improvements (no biggies) that could be made on this pack is this: It needs to come with the bladder, instead of having to purchase one. It needs to come with a user booklet, to maximize user potential. It needs to have a couple of fly rod tube ports in the top (for the tubes to stick out when loaded in the pack). If it had these improvements, no other pack could TOUCH it!

I am a fly fisher and was tired of the traditional fishing vest and bought this fishing bag. i love it. the only issue i have is sometimes when your trying to cast the front pods can get in the way. also when tying on new flies i tend to hold the rod under my arm and sometimes you lose grip trying to manuever around the pods. otherwise i love all the stuff i can bring with me, when i go fishing.

Like many of you, I'm sure, I've spent much of my fishing career looking for the perfect pack. I've owned 3 or 4 vests, and 4 different fishing back packs. For me, the WJ Escape pack is the perfect design. I do a lot of small stream fishing which involves hiking as well as fishing. I'm often out for 4-5 hours, and want something that will carry rain gear and my lunch as well as fly boxes and the normal stuff. With other packs, my shoulders would often get sore by the end of the day. The Escape handles all of these things beautifully. It has a lighweight frame with a suspension belt that shifts a lot of the weight to your hips. The elastic mesh suspension moves the pack off your back and allows air to circulate (making it cooler on a hot day). It also means that boxes you stuff into the pack don't gouge you. Finally , the front pockets are cleverly designed. The tippet pocket, which holds half a dozen spools works extremely well. If you like to spend the whole day out, miles from your car, I don't think there's a better pack on the market.

It makes a good solid impression. Easy to use, lightweight. Enough room & pockets for an one day trip. The only thing I didn't know how to use was the hydration sleeve... But still, it's a good buy.
