Socks not as described in catalogue By Mountain Woman from Dutch Flat, CA on 04/09/2009 Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The catalogue describes these socks as "Crew Height" with the qualifier "varies". These socks are Above the Calf height, 13 inches high from the heel. Hardly Crew Height. We returned them immediately so can add nothing else to their quality.
Why these are seconds, I don't know. By Ron from Baltimore, MD USA on 03/26/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Regulates Temperature Well, Wicks Away Moisture Best Uses: Backpacking, Daily Use, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: If these are as durable as Coolmax liners I've purchased in the past, they'll rat 5 stars. Up to this point, they have done what liners are supposed to.

Seconds, thirds and fourths By StampingDad from Stamping Ground, Kentucky on 03/18/2009 Cons: Bulky, Bunches Up, Uncomfortable Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Seconds. Product information stated "crew height may vary slightly" I thought so what they are liner socks which I planned to use with the Smartwool Hiking socks seconds. Not. "Vary slightly" apparently means eight to nine inches additional length---only one out of the six pairs I purchased can be worn as intended. The Smartwool seconds though are great!
By Richmond Walker from Richmond, VA on 03/03/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Regulates Temperature Well, Wicks Away Moisture Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Use in my 2" heel boots that don't have much room inside--probably why they slip around, since I'm not wearing socks over them. I am very pleased with the liners.

By cbd from Grosse Pointe, Michigan on 02/06/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Good Design, Regulates Temperature Well, Wicks Away Moisture Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these to use as an underlayer for insulation. By Sockless from Middle USA on 02/02/2009 Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought two liners in different styles and lengths, but both in styles made for men because I have large muscular calves for a woman and I'm tall/sturdily built. The other liners were mid-calf and worked just fine. These, however, did not work just fine. I could not get them past mid-calf to pull them up.
I asked my husband to try them as we are similar height and shoe size; they were fine on him. He has a slim build with no fat on his calves. I then measured our calves; his were 16.5 and mine 18.
Bottom line: measure before you buy if you are tall, muscular, or heavier than average. Unfortunately, I can't comment on performance.
