Excellent tool for all outdoor adventure By Huricane the Rivergoat from Blue Ridge, VA on 07/23/2009 Pros: Easy To Read, Good Quality, Reliable, Stylish Best Uses: Any outdoor activity Describe Yourself: Athletic, Military adventurist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use this watch for tracking weather while outdoors as well as altitude. Most of all I use it as a back up for knowing my location in an emergency situation. Great tool!
All looks. Doesn't work good. By Fanatico from Houston, TX on 05/22/2009 Cons: Bulky, Difficult To Use, Unreliable Describe Yourself: Athletic, High End Shopper, Modern, Practical Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: It looks very nice and the red backlight is very cool. BUT it doesn't work for it's purpose. The GPS looses track repeatedly during a normal 5 mile run with CLEAR sky in the city, not even talk about woods, trees... When downloading the recorded track to the PC, these problems with the GPS cause the route to look nothing like the actual one. My 5 miles appeared like they would've been 14, my max speed, 79 mi/h (like my car!), which killed the REAL average speed too. Bottom line: If you want to spend $300/plus in a watch that looks cool but won't work for you as a GPS tracker, buy this. I know that I didn't, so I already returned it. I guess I should have paid attention to the bad ratings too.
By GMer from Columbia, SC on 03/29/2009 Describe Yourself: Athletic Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Had high hopes for this GPS enabled watch at the attractive price on ST but can't recommend it. Only got a signal about one out of every five times used, trying it hiking, running, & boating. When I did get a signal the watch reset the time eight hours ahead?!. Unreliability means I can't be comfortable even using as a backup. Others seem to have had better success so possibly mine is a defective unit but am returning.

By The average Joe from Fayetteville, NC on 03/01/2009 Pros: Compact GPS, Stylish Cons: Drains Battery, Expensive, No map data for software, Not very durable Describe Yourself: Athletic, Military, Practical Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Overall, The Suunto X9 is a good watch with GPS capabilities. With that said, the battery life is poor with the GPS on. If you plan to use the GPS for over 8 Hours you will need a back-up GPS or you will have to stop somewhere and recharge the battery. I don't think the watch is durable enough for rough outdoor conditions where an impact to it is possible.
This watch does not fit the criteria for what I need it for. If you just plan to use it to track your runs or hikes, this may be perfect for you to reduce the weight of a typical GPS unit. If you do purchase, I would recommend putting a protective screen on the face of the watch.
that is a good tool for trek and hiking. By NATURE from CHINA on 02/07/2009 Pros: Adjustable Watchband, Good Quality, Reliable Describe Yourself: Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: That is a good company, but the only flaw of my parter is that the battery is not very durable, especialy when GPS be turned on.
