Superb knife at a fantastic price. By senoB from Sacramento, CA on 08/25/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Compact, Durable, Easy To Use, Good Weight, Sharp Blade, Versatile Best Uses: Campgrounds, Day Trips, River Trips, Road Trips Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I primarily use it for food prep and cutting rope, boxes, and other fibrous materials during camping (or while in the city).
The serrations work perfectly and a breeze to touch up on most triangle-shaped ceramic or diamond hones. They do not rip or shred on most materials, but cut almost as smoothly as a well-sharpened plailn edge would. Does not need sharpening often, but is easy to sharpen compared to the very hard, high-end steels.
Ergonomically, it works fantastic in three of the main grips, forward edge out and in, and reverse out. Reverse grip in seems to make it more likely to actuate the mid-lock and therefore unlock the blade during use. The handle fits naturally in the hand especially in saber grip, with the index finger in the choil, and thumb pad pressed against the jimped thumb ramp.
Carry is fantastic: the deep-carry wire pocket clip is very discreet and blends in with a large number of clothing colors (if that matters to you) and is very secure in mine (no sliding at all). The knife is very slim and fairly lightweight: you literally will not know it's there until you reach for it.
The only con is the pinned handles, this doesn't allow disassembly to properly clean, lubricate, and tune the knife to your preferences (though the pivot is adjustable). The knife apparently lacks washers between the liners and the blade - while action is smooth, this results in circular scratches on the blade tang. However, this may also help prevent dirt and such entering this area due to the high tolerances and minimal space between liners and blade tang.
Another great Spyderco knife. By D from Los Angeles CA on 07/29/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Compact, Durable, Easy To Use, Good Weight, Sharp Blade Best Uses: Backcountry Camping, Campgrounds, Daily Carry, Day Trips, Road Trips Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a fantastic knife. I was looking for a solid small pocket knife for daily carry. I was prepared to spend a lot more, but when I found this one with the G10 handle (light, solid grip and comfortable) and with the VG 10 steel, I was sold. I love the serrated edge as well. It will cut through anything from the foil over your wine cork, to that indestutiable plastic packaging that so many things come in. The spyderco thumb hole opener works perfectly. I highly recommend this knife. If you get one I also recommend the spyderco sharpen.
By End Run Jack from Omaha, NE on 07/26/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Compact, Durable, Easy To Use, Good Weight, Sharp Blade, Versatile Best Uses: Backcountry Camping, Campgrounds, Day Trips, Road Trips, Survival Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The heart of a knife is it's bladesteel. VG-10 is one of the best leading edge high tech blade steels out there. Excellent craftsmanship ! This knife will last for many years with reasonable care & occasional lubrication. Because of the high quality and durability of their knives, Spyderco, out of Golden, CO is one of my all time favorite knife brands.
By Sonny from Ocala, Florida on 07/23/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Compact, Durable, Easy To Use, Good Weight, Sharp Blade, Versatile Cons: Don't like pocket clip Best Uses: Campgrounds, Day Trips, Road Trips Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I prefer a slide-lock on my folders. This one has the usual Spyderco style, which works well, but I'm not yet used to it.
The blade steel, VG-10, is great and keeps a razor edge for a long time.
Good knife. It will be my EDC for a long time.

It is a great knife, one of the best Spyderco ever made. So when I saw them discounted I just bought backup piece.
