May do duty as a gym bag, may be a carry on for short trips. Overall, a good purchase.

We bought two!
By OrangeCrush from Detroit, MI on 05/19/2009 Pros: Durable, Large Capacity, Lightweight Best Uses: Short Travel, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: A couple of people have complained that there is no support structure with this bag and they are absolutely correct that it doesnt have any support structure however it was designed like that on purpose. Not everyone wants bags that have a rigid support structure and this bag is designed for those people. To give the bag a negative review because of this makes no sense as again it was designed like this on purpose. Those people simply need to do more research before buying a bag.
One of the best uses for bags like these are actually packing them inside other suitcases when going on vacation. I dont know about other people but I always buy a bunch of stuff n vacation and my suitcases become overwhelmed. Pack this into one of your bags and you will have a full bag for extra stuff. Another great aspect to these sorts of bags is that they are only as big as the stuff you pack inside them unlike the structured bags that always retain their maximum size.
Another good example of these sorts of bags are the North Face base Camp duffles. They are big, round and have zero support structure. I usually use the North Face duffles but decided to buy one of these due to the deal price wise. I have not been disappointed. At this price its a killer deal. If your looking for a bag free of support then you cant go wrong with this bag. Another outstanding bag by Victorinox.
My Husband Loves This and so do I! By Mimi from Colorado Springs on 05/19/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy to Transport, Lagoon Color is Cool, Lightweight Best Uses: Airline Travel, Any kind of travel, Camping Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Was not expecting this nice of a bag. It is an early Father's Day present for my husband and he really likes it. So do I! I will buy another one for my Dad for Father's Day. The bag is very versatile, is a quality item, and for a good price.
By Andrew from Santa Barbara, CA on 05/08/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy to Transport, Large Capacity, Lightweight Best Uses: Short Travel, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was skeptical of this bag when I first received it because, as noted in another review, it is very unstructured. However, this makes the bag, which has a surprisingly large volume, very light and compact when not full. Easy to throw in the bottom of a suitcase flattened for use on a trip. Packing it, contrary to what was said in another review, is actually very easy--the bag has a large, flat base, mirrored by a large, square zippered main opening. Very easy to pack folded clothes, and very easy to carry. So, after some initial doubts, the bag won me over.
Lightweight, Flat, Wrinkled Duffel Bag By macymom from Northridge, CA on 05/05/2009 Cons: Plastic connectors, Thin fabric Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Very disappointed-was expecting a nice quality bag for the price. The nylon is very thin and crinkly. There is no support so the bag lays flat. I bought the blue bag and you can actually see light through the fabric on the bottom. Portions of the interior have a rip-stop nylon lining, but not the bottom. I own the Victorinox Mobilizer Duffel, a nice sturdy high quality bag, and was looking for a comparable bag in a larger size. This is not it!
By stefrrr from Florida on 05/05/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy to Transport, Lightweight Best Uses: Airline Travel, Camping, Short Travel, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this duffel to take with me to Europe - I'm studying abroad for the summer so I need to take a fair quantity of clothes. Couple of really nice things about this bag: it seems really well made and durable, the pockets on the end are nice, and it's really lightweight. I'm not sure if it's 4331 cubic inches though. My mom was going to lend me another duffel which is 2024 cubic inches, and this does not seem even 1.5 times as big. This bag is a really nice size though. I'll just have to carry something a little bigger than I was planning for a carry-on.
By Murph from New England on 04/16/2009 Pros: Large Capacity, Lightweight Best Uses: Can't think of one Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This bag makes no sense from a usability angle. The thing has no rigidness, just falls flat - literally. Makes loading it next to impossible, let alone using it. This could have been one awesome bag if it simply had support in it. I'd pass on this - not worth the money, no matter how cheap the price is.

Not ballistic nylon, but still good quality.
