By LovesGoodShoes from Marlborough, NH on 02/24/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Versatile Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels full size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are great slip-on shoes for fall through spring. They're waterproof, so it is kind of like wearing a boot without all the bulk. My feet felt perfectly comfortable the first day I wore them... no break-in time required They are definitely shorter than other Merrell Shoes. I fit an 8.5 or a 9 in other styles and with the Quantum I needed a 9.5. And I can feel the front of the shoes with my toes, especially if I'm walking downhill! I would not use them for hiking for this reason, but casual walks would be fine.
I like the look of these shoes - rugged and casual but not big or frumpy. Very comfortable.
Warm but a little tight around the top By Frugal shopper from Chapel Hill, NC on 02/23/2009 Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: These look really nice and while the overall fit is good, the band at the top that keeps out the snow and water is a little too tight. It did stretch out a little after wearing, but I may need to wear lighter weight socks to be comfortable. They were very warm!
Great quality but run a bit small By Country dweller from Connecticut on 02/23/2009 Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These look well constructed and I expect them to be very durable (as I would expect from Merrell), but as another reviewer noted, they do seem to run small, which I wish I'd known before I ordered. The tread on the soles looks particularly useful for my northern (muddy, snowy) climate; I'm looking forward to getting my exchange pair in a larger size so I can try them out.
By Dog lover from Johnson City, TN on 02/22/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As with all Merrell products, this is a great and comfortable shoe. It fits well, so that slipping isn't an option, but isn't too tight.
By passy from Buffalo, NY on 02/21/2009 Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I own 2 pair of similar Merrells & love them. i checked the size in both & ordered the same, but these were almost a whole size too small! Rather than shell out another return shipping charge I returned rather than exchanged them. Bad experience. Sierra Trading Post Responded on 02/21/2009
Thank you for your review. After having this fit, we have determined that it runs 1/2 size small. Thanks again.
warm, dry, sturdy through wet walking By wet walker from Arcata, CA on 02/20/2009 Pros: Breathes Well, Comfortable Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel, Walking, Work Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Merrell is the one brand of shoes that I can rely upon to fit me and work well with my back problems.
It frequently rains where I live and I walk a lot, so I can attest to the waterproof qualities of these shoes.
It's chilly here and they do keep my feet warm, without sweating.
This general model is my choice for daily wear in the winter, so they get a lot of use. I have 2 similar pairs so I can trade off.
My previous similar pairs definitely broke down over time, but I can't say it was unreasonable.
