By Jules from NC on 06/24/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Sizing was surprising; I always wear a 9.5 in Salomon shoes, but these seemed to be more like a size 10. I advise you order a half-size down unless you wear very heavy socks with a Gore-Tex shoe.

By accu-v from Colorado on 06/21/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Very lightweight, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have had 2 pairs of Salomon hiking boots (one gore-tex which is the way to go for where we live high in the CO mountains). Salomon are so very comfortable and lightweight. Right out of the box I took these trail shoes on a short 45 minute hike that involved a lot of elevation gain. Very comfortable with no hot spots whatsoever. Very good arch support and burly sole. I tested the fit on the up and down portions - the laces held fine on both, and my toes did not feel like they were jamming into the top of the shoe, even on the steep downhill. FIT: It seems to me these are a very roomy 7. I usually wear a 7 in shoes and altho I wouldn't say these are a half size too big, nevertheless they're roomy. The laces cinch up so the width is no problem. I also can add a foam insole since they're big enough (I like that cushy feel on long hikes). The only problem eventually may be laces - if they break Salomon may replace them, or maybe I can rig up substitutes with super glue and cord! Anyway, I am very pleased and in my experience Sierra Trading Post always has the best prices (hands down!) on this type of item. That was true in this case since I shopped around... Thanks, Sierra Trading Post and Salomon!
By telarunner from Truckee, CA on 05/19/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Cons: No replacement for laces, Shoe laces break easily Best Uses: Cold weather, Snow shoe with gaiters, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Trail running and snowshoe running in cooler weather, can be warmer than other shoes in hot weather, but with gaiter use, they keep out fine dirt that shoes with the mesh let in. Have had 3 pairs, my current pair has breaks in each of the laces, retied them so now the laces are short and the shoes hard to get in to, but ready for a replacement soon anyway, will buy the same again, [...]

By Mel from Atlanta, GA on 05/04/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Stable, Water Resistant Cons: Sole Wears Out Quickly Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use these shoes for work and have occasionally hiked in them. I am on my feet all day and my legs or feet don't get tired. The soles wear out in about a year.
By Miranda from WA on 05/01/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Light, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold weather, Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are my second pair. I wear them all year long, the gortex makes them good for light snow. I love the easy lace up system. I mostly use them as climbing approach shoes and day hikes. After a year of heavy use, my first pair's laces frayed and I blew out the sides, but I felt this was to be expected with how hard I had worn them.
