Cannot fully test due to sprained ankle. By Matt with the bum ankle from Neenah, Wisconsin on 04/15/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Cons: Too Stiff/Not Flexible Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small, Feels too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am a 9.5 USA and I originally and accidentally ordered a 10 UK which was a 10.5 USA. The UK sizes were bolded which confused me. After sending them back I ordered the 10 USA and these fit like a 9.5 USA should fit. So definitely order a half size too big.
I severely sprained my right ankle playing bball the day before the 10 USA's showed up in the mail. Even today the left boot fits like a glove and is easily worn all day long. The right boot still kinda hurts and becomes uncomfortable after a few hours of wear.
I will say these boots are built like tanks. These replaced my Asolo's that I loved but started to fall apart after wearing them almost everyday for about four years. Not too shabby!
I am hoping these will be as wearable as the Asolos, so far they are not, but I have not been able to test them fully as my ankle is still healing.
Heavy and stiff - be prepared for pain! By James (Not Jim) from Hartford, CT on 04/13/2009 Pros: Good looking, Sturdy/Durable Cons: Heavy, Long Break-in, Not Comfortable, Too Stiff/Not Flexible Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Got these about a month before a wet weather, long distance hike. Great looking boots. Man, did they hurt my feet! The soles are as hard as rock - no flex at all. The ankle support started scratching my feet within half a mile, then I noticed a scratch inside the toe on my left foot. My guess - it'll take a very long time to break them in, and even then, they are too heavy and stiff for the kind of long distances over rough terrain I'll be working on! [...] I was able to send them back and buy some Keens for about the same price. Much more comfortable.
By hiking in Peru from oceanside, CA on 04/05/2009 Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: awesome boot, I love this brand.....it had great padding around and above the ankle, great tread and lacing as well, just too heavy for me when I'm wearing a backpack....I found another boot that was 1.3 pounds lighter....
