By Turtle from Bowling Green, Ky on 10/29/2009 Cons: Not Comfortable, Squeak Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Environmentalist Sizing: Feels half size too small, Feels too small Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I own an old pair of REI Spirits by Raichle and love them. These boots are too narrow and crowd my forefoot and create problems for a sensitive ganglion on the bottom of my left foot. Am returning these good quality boots because of the fit. I am sorry I couldn't keep them.
By Redhawk from Idaho on 07/02/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In Best Uses: Everyday, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Having sold hiking boots, climbing shoes, ski boots, etc at a outdoor specialty retailer I was very weary about not getting to even see these boots before buying let alone trying them on. Even so, since I could not find any decent boots in any of the shops where I live I decided to go for the on-line boot purchase. I love that they are leather lined and NOT Gore-Tex (I have nothing against Gore-Tex) as I want a more breathable boot. Anyway, these boots fit great and the time I have put in them I have found them to be very comfy with no hot spots. I am excited to put them through their paces in the Sawtooths soon. For a size reference using an American Brannock device I measure Men's 9 arch length and just under a 9 overall length. My width is in the C range. I purchased the U.S. 9 size (U.K. 8). They are beautiful boots. I didn't give them five stars as I have no idea on their durability yet. If I get some good miles out of them without delaminating then they will be five stars.
By Outdoorsman from Orrville, Ohio on 05/13/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Environmentalist Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These boots are very good quality. I am usually a size 12 but I ordered a 13 (because all the other reviews said they run small) which fits really good with trekking socks. Never owned a pair of Raichle boots before but seem to be constucted excellent. I am a big fan of leather lined boots especially if you plan on long hikes...say good bye to blisters with the glove leather lining
By Aphro757 from Phoenix, AZ on 05/10/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Just used them for a trip down the Grand Canyon. No issues what-so-ever on the trip. Kept out water and held up fine through the harsh terrain. Did take a few days of wearing before to break-in and flex-up.

By Dave A. from Chicago Illinois on 04/30/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Stiff soles, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Cold Weather, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is my 2nd pair of Raichle boots .The 1st pair lasted 15yrs .Their probably the most comfortable foot wear i own . I looked for quite awhile to find another pair with the same glove leather insides .These boots are really great old fashioned quality .When the inside molds to your foot its great .Also the stiff soles are great for heavy loads on rocky trails These are some of the best out there
