By Atlanta angler from Decatur, GA on 08/24/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Leather lining is hard to find, and if you want something without the almost ubiquitous Goretex, etc., liners (which get real hot for me), give this a go. It's not going to be waterproof, but different shoes for different uses. FYI, I have a very straight foot, and find this a pretty good fit, and the leather will help with the outside toe fit. I can also get his snug enough on my skinny heels, but only with lacing techniques.
Great boot for the money!! By Ol Dirty from Nashville, TN on 08/03/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too big, Feels too large Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I do a lot of long distance hiking and usually wear all leather trekking boots. I like the support they provide and how they repel water. But lately, I thought it would be great to try a boot that is lighter. So I bought the Raichle X-Degree 7's. Right out of the box I put 10 miles on them. No break in needed. Awesome comfort. Great support. They look nice. The only down side is, because of the mesh lowers, water tends to get in. But I consider this a minor discomfort for all of the other great things these boots offer!
By Jake from Cordova, Alaska on 07/25/2009 Pros: Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: A great boot but my feet were soaked after 15 minutes of walking through wet grass, that was the first, and last time I will hike in them. I ordered a half size small as suggested and they are still a bit big.

By Jeff cochran from memphis tn on 07/06/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Light Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Environmentalist, Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels full size too big, Feels too large Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: get them a full size smaller than you normally wear or a half size and add a new insole. these are the best footlocking limbwalking tree climbing boot i have ever owned. period. i normally chew boots up in less than three months. i am fully expecting a year or better out of the upper with one resole on the lower. ussually after the first weeks work my shoes look three months old these still look new. they are also good with srt systems as they have plenty of insole support. i also wore some gaffs while in them and my feet didn't hurt one time. yes i have a new favorite. i just wish that they laced to the toe.

By LN from Alameda, CA on 04/14/2009 Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Please be careful with the sizes here. I got confused and got the wrong one. [...] Otherwise a decent boot, but runs large about 1/2 size.
By MDC from SLC from Salt Lake City, UT on 03/24/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Everyday, Light Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational, Peakbagger Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are very comfortable lightweight boots with good traction, but little support for much more than mild hikes. The biggest problem for me was I couldn't keep from sliding forward on the downhill. My toes hit the end no matter how tight I tied them. I weigh about 190, so a lighter person may have less trouble with this. The shoes are fine on the uphill, but these shoes were not intended for much more than moderate hiking.
By Big Nick from Wasatch Mountains, Utah on 03/05/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexable, Great Traction, Light weight, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Trails, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Peak Bagger Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a great light boot provided it is used within the parameters for which it was designed. That is easy trails free from harsh rocky uneven terrain. Although the soles offer great traction, the boots do not offer adaquate support, cushioning, and shock absorbing qualities for the rough stuff. Great for day hikes, but forget back packing or carrying loads. I almost think of these as over the ankle slippers with grippy Vibram soles. I quickly found their limitations while off-trail on steep and rocky areas.
