Warm, Waterproof, not too complicated. By Beesneeze from Newburyport, MA on 10/30/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Warm, Windproof Best Uses: Skiing/Snowboarding, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've had this coat for a month. Haven't skiied yet, but I'm sure it'll do. The hood fits close to the head, doesn't flap in the breeze, nice. Sheds water like a duck. Enough pockets, not so many you loose stuff. Sharp liner.
Only negatives are the sleeves are very long- but perhaps when skiing, they'll prevent ride-up, exposing skin. That, and the liner does not zip in. It hooks in at the neck and the ends of the sleeves. These are good ideas, but it would be nice to make the coat a single unit.
Other than that, love it!

Impressive but not compact for hiking By Lilydale from Harrisburg PA on 04/10/2009 Pros: Durable, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Cold Weather, Extreme Conditions, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels too small Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this jacket for my husband for a trip to Iceland and just got it in the mail yesterday. It looks like a powerful piece of machinery. Nothing like I've seen before. Very heavy duty shell with lots of versatility. Water rolls off it like beads of mercury when I ran the faucet over it, even though the fabric seems breathable and "fabricy" not the typical waterproof I'm used to seeing. It looks like it would do the job! Unfortunately, I have to send it back because we hike all the time and we would never be able to fit it in a day pack. We need something compressible and because of the thick shell, this rolls up to the size of an average down sleeping bag. Too bulky for hiking, but looks indestructible and heavy duty for miserable winter weather if you are not worried about packing it. I just got another jacket in the mail today, Columbia Down Dub Mountain 3 in 1 Parka, and it is exactly what we want, compressible and packable with a more traditional shell. Definitely lighter duty shell , and I'm sure it won't be as warm or durable, but packable is what we need. I hope it fits him because this one looks like it runs smaller than the Cirque (shouldn't the sizes be standardized?)By the way, the medium Cirque was a little tight in the shoulders and chest and my husband is usually roomy in a medium.
