These pants are lightweight, water and wind resistant and very comfortable. Not the classiest pants at the golf course, but really fill the bill. I am sure they would be great for travel and hiking. The transition zipper is not as bulky as in an old pair of convertible Columbia pants that I own

At my age, comfort, fit, quality material and workmanship are essential because I'm out in the boondock for 2 or 3 months at a time and these are the pants that work for me best.
