Light, quick drying material but cut and styled like a formal pair of pants so I can use on a buis trip in most situations, but still have easy to wash/dry overnight pants. Only thing that is a step down from formal is the zipper on the side leg pocket. But hardly noticable. So, a nice smart looking pair of pants that you would hike in but can equally go out in.
