By Private from Central New York on 10/15/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these boots primarily for an urban office environment, although they are very well equipped for off road adventures as well. The BOA lacing is sweet, love the technology and ease of operation. The fit is very comfortable, I might have been able to fit a 10.5 but 11 is a safer bet, I run in between both sizes depending on manufacturer. I do recommend them, save me a set though, I will likely buy another pair.
Easy in and out is very handy By Tom Colorado from Mountains, Colorado on 10/14/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was unsure of the BOA lacing system, but after using them for work the past week, I Love it. No need to worry about laces coming undone or dragging in the wet conditions. The ease of using the system has me wanting the BOA system on all my shoes.
By SnakeShot from Amerika on 10/13/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I just use these for every day use.
The lacing system works real well except I can't seem to get the ankle tight enough without it over tightening over the top of my foot.
Also need to adjust a few clicks tighter throughout the day.
I was hoping these would be a little more green but they are more of a dark brown. Or even look a bit black in dark conditions.
As for personal preference, I'm the kind of person that doesn't like to draw attention to myself and the clicking from tightening the wire lace doesn't really help with that. So if your doing a night op, its not very stealthy, lol.
Overall, these seem to be real good boots and I hope they last for years.
Great Boots - no break in By Brooklyn Hiker from Brooklyn, NY on 10/09/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Sturdy/Durable Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My partner is pretty new to hiking, although he's athletic. Buying boots online is risky, but he loved these. We went on a Vermont weekend with friends who are avid hikers and they loved them too! The "laces" are amazing and easily adjustable. He was totally happy. Great boots, great value.
Good, Solid Boots With Very Cool Laces By SnowCamo from Summit County, Colorado on 10/02/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Lacing System, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm not an avid/hard-core hiker, but I wear hiking boots more often than not (most folks here do the same). I thought I'd give these a try.
I bought these because of Vasque's reputation, to try out the Boa laces, and (honestly) because they look cool (I wouldn't be surprised to see them in a sci-fi movie). I love the lacing system! The boots include instructions on how to adjust the lace pressure for different user's preferences. I've been wearing the boots for a few weeks, and so far I have no complaints. Construction quality seems to be excellent. Ankle support is some of the best I've had.
I have wide-ish feet, and I can see where some folks would find these boots too narrow - but with some time spent adjusting the laces, I find them comfortable to wear all day. Break-in time is minimal.
Aside from some alpine logging & brush clearing, I mostly stick to trails and carry a light pack. So far, so good.
I would buy them again.
Great boot, interesting laces By hiker in Truckee from Truckee, CA on 09/28/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Boots fit great right out of the box. If you need a wide size boot, these are not for you. The boots seem sturdy and comforttable from the start. I wore them in the field at work to break them in and forget I had them on in order to break them in. The lacing system is interesting and the plastic turns at where the lace holes would be will be the weak point... I do wonder what you do if the lacing system breaks...?
I suppose I'll get used to them By Normal Navigation from SC USA on 09/22/2009 Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought these recently, I thought the cable and ratchet system would be the bomb. The ankles seem too tight, the toes too loose and you cant tighten one without tightning the whole thing. The tops of these boots are about an inch higher than my V-lites, and these are nowhere near as comfortable when new. To be fair, they may break in later, I have only worn them four times so far. They are a bit heavy in the sole, traction seems more than adequate.
By Hiker/Backpacker from Charleston, SC on 09/17/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought this boot for a backpacking trip to Yosemite. Broke it in over 10 miles and was ready for the trip. Replaced footbed with customized footbed for added comfort. Backpacked carrying ~58lbs for 3 days and ~21 miles in Yosemite from Tuolumne Meadows to Volgesang pass and Bernice Lake and back. Couldn't have asked for better. Great ankle support and no blisters. Kicked rocks several times on the ascents and descents and didn't even feel it. The BOA lacing system is great! Nothing like quick clicks of the lacing system with a heavy backpack without having to take off your pack every time, especially during steep descents. Very easy to put on and take off in camp late at night after a long day or early in the morning for an early start. Bought an extra pair for back up. Highly recommended for backpacking on rough terrain or long trips.
