Decent boot after a couple hikes By pk from mexico city on 09/02/2009 Pros: Great Traction, Lightweight, Water Resistant Cons: Too Stiff/Not Flexible Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these boots for multi-purpose hiking, including light mountaineering, in central Mexico where I live. After three weeks, I've worn them walking to work, on a day hike at a 15,000 foot volcano, and on a weekend backpacking trip. They don't flex at all in the sole and gave me a moderate heel blister on the day hike, but they seem to be breaking in okay. Synthetic materials mean they're light, which somewhat compensates for the stiffness from a comfort standpoint. Durability doesn't look like it will be a problem. I'm doing a four-day backpacking trip in Peru this month and plan to attempt a 17,000, glaciated volcano next month, so those trips will be the real test. For the price (about $120 with rebates), I can't complain.
By Grumpy old guy from Sierras on 08/21/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I used them on a week-long off-trail mountaineering trip. The only issue was on steep downhill on-trail with heavy pack. There is a ridge that runs across the footbed between the ball of the foot and the toes (probably for gripping with your toes). I needed to fiddle with the lacing to keep my foot from slipping forward and over that ridge with the ball of the foot.
By William from Salt Lake City, UT on 06/16/2009 Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Hiking, poor fit for larger feet, very flexible

By Buster Brown from Ogden, Utah on 05/04/2009 Cons: Difficult Laces, Heel slipage blisters, Long Break-in, Not Comfortable, Too Stiff/Not Flexible Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational, Hike everyday Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I hike at least 4 miles everyday year round in rocky terain. I have 3 other pairs of boots (Asolo) that I rotate . The Vasque boot is so stiff it does not flex and causes blisters. I have 2 other pair of lite weight Vasque boots that are great but the LT Mountaineering boot is a very poor design.
