break-in time worth it for fit By narrow-footed trekker from Tucson, Arizona on 05/19/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have a narrow foot with squared-off toes. This boot (comes in narrow) has a relatively wide toe-box. The trick is to go one half size longer than usual. The rest of the boot becomes flexible enough after break-in to hold the foot well. The heel of the boot is not as narrow as I need, but the berry version of Superfeet takes care of that. Once broken-in (cleaning and aqueous waxing several times speeds up that process), they are really wonderfully comfortable. I wear 1 pair of high-density Icebreaker socks without a liner and use Sportslick judiciously and have no problems with blisters. This is my second pair. I trek in the Alps and feel confident going anywhere with these.
By fiberdeity from Denver, CO on 05/14/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These shoes do run big - I had to order a 1/2 size smaller than I regularly wear. Lots of room in the toebox still.
By Cat from Florissant, CO on 05/08/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am fortunate enough to live in the Rocky Mountains. And since I am retired, I hike almost every day with my two dogs over rugged terrain, mostly on animal trails and forest service roads.
I search far and wide to find European made quality hiking boots and these are perhaps the best pair of boots I have ever owned.
I usually wear a European size 41 and these are a 42,but this allows enough toe room so on the downhill my toes are happy! The glove leather lining, too, beats the synthetics for comfort.

Bought it for my wife and she's in love with her Lowas
By MoooMoooCow from Germantown MD on 04/19/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Lasts forever, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Minimal Break in time. Great leather lining for added comfort and breathability. Great traction except on slimy wet tree roots (but to be fair, I haven't come across a boot that has mastered this yet). Protects bottoms of feet from really sharp rocks (my Chacos didn't do this for me). One of the best boots I have ever owned. I've had mine at least 4-5 years now and they're still going strong. If you're into all leather boots vs synthetics, this is probably your boot.
