By Hiking Photographer from Blue Ridge Mountains...Appalachian Trail on 05/28/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Casual/Recreational, Environmentalist, Professional/Guide Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This makes the third pair of these boots for me. I hike daily in the mountains in all weather conditions. I also wear them daily for general support. Be careful with sizing. I wear a men's US 7.5 and usually a women's US 9, EUR 40. The equivalent in these boots is a men's US 7.5, EUR 40, BUT Women's 8. Please note this difference and you will not be disappointed!!!
By Eric from Hawaii on 04/29/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm Cons: Heavy, Long Break-in Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads Describe Yourself: Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am a geologist, these days more in the lab than in the field, but I needed to replace my Meindls Tibet. These are solid boots and they are quite heavy. I am still breaking them in before going on a real hike, so I guess it's too early to tell.
The quality is superb though and the size description fits my foot well.
The reason for buying these and not another pair was largely based on the great price.
Frank the Tank Boots !!!! By Gazda Vela from San Diego on 04/29/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Sturdy/Durable Cons: Slippery on wet surfaces Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The boots are a bit heavy but I didn't list that as a con since they truly make your feet feel well supported and protected. Super well made in Germany with high grade leather inside and out. Old world tight tolerances and solid "Mercedes Benz like" fit and finish.

The first pair were so unbelievably comfortable, I knew I would never buy another brand. 6 years later, The new pair was of the same grade....excellent! Fit is incredible. You get what you pay for, Well Worth the Money!
By Moosehorn Mountain Man from Granville,NY on 04/19/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: If you consider hiking going for a walk around town with your dog,or walking on the grass in a city park, save your money these boots are not for you. These boots are tuff, they flex where they should and don't where they should'nt. Prefect for carrying a heavy pack. The only down side is no gore tex but a little bit of wax does the trick. GREAT BOOT!
I would buy this product again!! By KA from Gainesville fl on 04/13/2009 Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I used this on the AT they were great! No blisters and great support.
By Caver from Taos, NM on 04/13/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Warm Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Comfortable and soft leather lining. No water proof liner, but wax does the trick
to nice for mud, to tough for church. By Captain from Northern WI on 04/10/2009 Pros: Great Traction, LeatherNo Gore, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too big, Feels too large Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are nice boots. They look too nice to get dirty, but they are tough boots. I have only worn them a few times, but they have grate traction, are sure footed, and fit like a glove. I ordered from a different retailer who said they run a size large. I wear 9.5 and the 9 fit me like a glove. The insoles leave a little to be desired in arch and heel support, I replaced with Spenco Polysorb Walker/Runner (the Hikers took up to much toe room). I used normal Nikwax, but would recommend Nubuck wax. I like this model over the new Banff Pro.
