They could have more arch support, but he's wearing them mostly around the house.

Merrell shoes are extremely comfortable and last for years. I've actually never had a pair of Merrells wear out. These shoes do run a size too small[...] These shoes are extremely comfortable. The leather doesn't show any marks. They breath extremely well even though they feel very warm. They are great for business casual wear.

I generally LOVE Merrill shoes. They fit my feet perfectly right out of the box. No break in period ever needed - well until now I guess.

It was a little tight and thought it would stretch like my other Merrells. I was disappointed as it did not stretch so it continues to be too tight and then discovered it is not water resistance. I will need to seal it with boot wax just to keep my feet dry. I would say this is only a summer dry weather shoe and would not wear it when there are any puddles or wet ground/grass. I crossed a moist cut grass field and my feet got soaked like I was wearing sandals.

Don't buy if you have a high instep!!! The foot opening requires a shoehorn and I had to fairly force my foot in. That pulled my socks so tight they were strangeling my toes. I have a high instep, and the very small elastic triangles couldn't expand to fit it. Bad design. They are on their way back as we speak... Stick with ECCO, Timberland, Hushpuppie or Clarks for comfort.
