By Camping Friend from Layton, Utah on 10/18/2009 Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a good lighter to get a camp fire started. I mainly camp in a travel trailer so this should suit me just fine. I went to three different stores to find butane. The third store was a cigarette/cigar store. I plan on giving the second lighter as a Christmas gift.

By Reel-Time from CT on 09/15/2009 Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great product for electrical work on boats - heat shrink tube and terminals. Check for fuel vapors before using in bilge. No hassle with power cords.
Ok lighter NOT wind resistant By adventurer from Lake Tahoe on 09/06/2009 Cons: Slight breeze willblowout Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Lights well; However just a slight breeze will blow the lighter out. Difficult to sustain flame with any wind. Would not depend on this as a sole source of flame when backpacking.
Compact, handy and easy to use By Bones from Honolulu, Hawaii on 08/28/2009 Pros: Flame adjustment is easy Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, Day trip, Hiking, Hurricane emergency kit Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This lighter is handy and easy to use, fill and adjust. The cover is a little frail should be beefed up more.
Problem lighting at altitude By Backpacker Dave from Lake City, CO on 08/23/2009 Pros: Problem with altitude Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a good lighter except for altitude. I have 2 of them. One quit at 9200 feet although the other worked. At 10,500 feet the other one wouldn't work period.
By On the Fly from Boulder, CO on 08/22/2009 Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: High power flame, lift ride ready!
Good product worked well at altitude By Old Backpacker from Lakewood, CO on 08/19/2009 Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Unlike another reviewer I had no problems with the lighter working at over 11,000 ft in the Sierra's. I just returned from a 6 day trip into the Sierra's and used the lighter daily to light my old SVEA III stove. Worked well in the snow and wind that I encountered.
By Alpine Fly Fisher from Cuchara, CO on 08/11/2009 Pros: Hot Flame, Wind Resistant Cons: Doesn't Light at Altitude Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Took this lighter to a location at 11,500 ft and it absolutely wouldn't light. (Luckily I had an 89 cent lighter with me that would.) Couldn't even get it to light using an open flame.
Works great at lower altitudes.
