I have the light smoke pants and they are my favorite for winter sports, so I figured I'd give the jacket a go. I've taken it snowboarding twice, and I love it. I've felt toasty in 30 degree weather.
I usually wear a small in Patigonia tops/jackets, but the medium (I'm 5'10" and 130lbs) gave me enough room to layer a fleece and likely a down vest within the jacket. I also love that the sleeves are extra long, which keep my wrists warm (unlike other jackets I own that are too short in the arms) because I can tuck my gloves into them.
Roomy Jacket with Slim Look By phatso from IE on 10/29/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Good Weight, Lots Of Pockets, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Sports, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Frequent Exerciser Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: If you're between sizes order the smaller size. Sleeves appear long, but are perfect if you plan to ski or snowboard.
By abandon your car from oak creek, co on 10/13/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Good Weight, No excess pockets Best Uses: Backcountry w layers, Cold not coldest days Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: a great deal on Patagonia quality. Wow- the sleeves are long even by Patagonia standards. I'm smallish- but need a size M to layer properly. Time will tell if I can put up with all the extra arm fabric...

They think of all the little things. This jacket has it all and is not big and bulky. The only thing that I can say negative about the coat is the end of the sleeves are a little big. The velcro closure can fit that in an instant and when I have my ski gloves on I am sure it will be a non issue. What a jacket and what a deal!!

I did find that the chest ran a little large and the arms are long. I have pretty long arms and would rather have the sleeves long than short!!Not sure if the hood would be helmet compatible. Lots of pockets and drawcord adjustable neck which are great. Somewhat shorter in length and flattering fit. Love the color (vermillion). I'm 5'4 and 128 lbs and med was a good fit.
